Summary: A BRILLIANT READING
Review: A brilliant reading is delivered by Tim Pigott-Smith (whom many remember for his renderings of Patrick O'Brian's novels). Few can convey danger or suspense as convincingly as Pigott-Smith does in this, the second audiobook in the popular Zion Legacy Series.

These stories which focus on the peoples engaged in combat for the ancient city of Jerusalem continue to fascinate with their blend of history, craftsman-like story telling and unabated adventure.

For this tale the date is May 19, 1948, five days after the birth of the new State of Israel. Amidst the celebration there are omens of a continuing ancient battle.

Summary: Thunder from Jerusalem
Review: After a couple of false starts I finished this book, and found the historical perspective, as well as many of the characters enjoyable. Although I do not share the academic pedigrees enjoyed by the Thoenes, I felt there were certain inaccuracies in parts of the story. Although this took away from my own enjoyment of the account, it is quite possible that the fault is mine.

Summary: Mallowcups for the Thoenes
Review: Everything, even a book review, is in a different cast since September 11. What hits this half-masted heart is the sole motivation of Peter Wallich, one of the Jewish defenders of beseiged Jerusalem...he only wants a place for children to grow up free. Truly, now baptized with fire, we can understand how the Israeli Jews felt...at least, we can understand the bewilderment of hatred.

On a technical side...knowing how the Thoenes operate, I wonder just how many people they drilled for "the story." I am stunned at the details, and as one reviewer put it, wonder where the line is drawn between fact and fiction. I do know that the Thoenes spent four months on a barge in Paris researching "Twilight of Courage." They asked elderly Parisians this question: "Where were you the day France fell?" The stories in that book were true. Makes me extremely curious about this new series.

Who did they talk to this time? What did they ask? Someday I'd like to wrest the info out of them...maybe torture it out of them, they way they torture ME when the NEXT BOOK is not INSTANTLY in my hand. I'd display Mallowcups on a silver tray inches from their little faces...

Well, I am their SLAVE and must read the next book NOW lest I perish. The Thoenes once again show that they can turn out book after book and still hit it dead on. Memorable characters, breathless action, scenes that make me bawl and scenes that make me Yee Ha. All in all, you feel like you walk away with something in your pocket when the book is done.

Good job, guys. I'd share Mallowcups with you.

Summary: The fighting continues
Review: I am amazed at how the author can make the action unfold before your eyes and hold your suspense, and then slow everything down and cause you to wait and be still with the characters as they take time to learn from their past. I could feel their anxiousness when they had to slow down. Maybe I just get into it too much, or maybe that's what a really good book does. All I know is that I didn't want to put it down!

Summary: A Beautiful, Touching Christian Novel...
Review: I don't even read novels usually, but this book touched me and opened my eyes to things I had not considered before. The Thoene's write so poignantly and so movingly about things so common and simple, they have a way of reaching right for your heart!

Summary: History Prettied UP and Slanted TO a Particular Group
Review: Just who in truth helped Israel and how many is an historical fact. This Author and others like him want people to believe that there was a HUGE amount of people in Israel helping those poor Jews over there. This is NOT TRUE. Not true at all.

We cannot let the history of Israel Ancient OR Present be HYJACKED by other people and used for their purposes. That aspect of these "books" has to be delt with first. Second, People picking up these books think they are written by Jewish Authors and will BLAME any negative depiction of Arabs and Islam on Jews.... Our Community must get the word out that we are NOT the Authors of these "Historical Novels". Anything you read in these books come NOT from OUR brains and feelings.

Jews need to get back IN CHARGE of telling our own history. (Other Minority Communities would never allow this situation to develop or contine ie OTHERS telling their stories) Meanwhile these people are making a fortune USING..OUR RELIGION and Israel. I dont like it and others of the Jewish Community who are just finding out about these so called "historical novels" dont like this situation either.

Theres a different ADJENDA about the Land of Israel going on here with these writers.. Their Adjenda is: The End Times. That isnt the way most Jews want their COUNTRY to end up.

Librarians..IF you hand me one of these books as a HISTORICAL NOVEL of ISREAL (not a mish mash of Religious Hopes and Sort of History and possibly a Missionizing Vehicle)..will you inform me that this is NOT written by Jews and DOES have another Adjenda..ie Revelation? And if, by chance, one of these books leads you down the path to to trying to get you to accept another Religion ***(ONE of these books I read actually DID switch into Missionizing Efforts at the End )will you inform me that this book has Missionizing aspects to it? I think Librarians and Book Sellers had better LABEL these books for what they are. If I want to be Missionized to ..I want to know about it BEFOREHAND.

How MUCH money are these people in fact making on the telling of their view of Israel?

Summary: Brilliant!
Review: The fast paced follow up to Jerusalem Vigil, Thunder from Jerusalem is an engaging, emotionally powerful book. Through the use of riveting action scenes, well drawn characters, and clever scriptural references, the Thoenes have written a novel that enthralls, inspires, and entertains. Whether you are new to the Zion series, or have loyally read every book, Thunder from Jerusalem is a must read.

Summary: Another winner!
Review: The Thoenes have again written a spell-binding, heart-wrenching story about Jerusalem, the city of God. Many of the main characters from the Zion Chronicles and Zion Covenant series are here, and their lives are more intertwined than ever. Plot twists, mystery characters, and suspenseful writing made the book hard to put down.

What captured me the most, though, was reading the book at the same time fighting is going on in Israel right now. The book made the real-life fighting seem even more real. Real people with real lives and real stories are fighting for Jerusalem today. The book helped me bridge time and space and compels me to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Summary: Fantastic for the Faithful Fans!
Review: This is great fiction. Or is it fiction? The Thoenes blend the two seamlessly and left me wondering where the two separated. The characters are believable, the setting authentic, and the descriptions vivid. But...

Don't even try to pick this book up if you haven't read "Jerusalem Vigil." In fact, even that book is greatly enhanced by a prior reading of the Zion Covenant and Zion Chronicles, not to mention "The Twilight of Courage." The number of characters can be overwhelming, if not disorienting if you're not already familiar with them. The story jumps right in where the previous book left off, and I even considering waiting to read them all together when the series is completed, as though they were a massive Michener novel.

I couldn't wait, though. I admit it. I just had to know what happens with Rachel and Moshe, David, Lori, Daniel, etc. By delivering the scenes of a couple days in short segments, the story flew by, and I couldn't set it down. Once again, I'm left waiting for the follow-up, "Jerusalem's Heart," this time. I've come to love these characters and their struggle for freedom.
