Summary: Financial Fitness in 12 Easy Lessons
Review: As one who definitely needs to shed some unwanted (though not undeserved) debt, I can testify to the need of a Money Guru whose program isn't going to set me back a few hundred dollars more before I even get started.

I'm happy to report I found it all here in Ellie Kay's latest tome on how to how to turn the spending tide. Ellie not only offers solid advice on how to implement these reductions, she does so from personal experience. This guide reflects how she, along with her husband, helps keep their large family afloat.

Her personal stories, like the ones I remember from her previous work "Shop, Save, and Share" are the glue that holds this book together, bringing it a grace and charm often missing in other "How to" books.

A previous reviewer compared Kay's financial insights to Richard Simmons. With due respect, I believe Ellie Kay's program more appropriately carries with it the muscle of Ah-nold, especially in light of his recent promise to tighten California's economic waistline.

My advice? Don't be an economic girly-man. Pick up a copy of "The Debt Diet" and start bench-pressing your way to a stable financial future.

Summary: 'Acvice With a Heart - From The Heart'
Review: Excellent book with advice I would loved to have had access to many years ago. This book should be in every young couples home. Because tough facts and advice are woven together with a golden thread of humor which is Ellie Kay's spirit, this is a book which will benefit any age person or couple. In the past 43 years of raising a family of five sons, I thought I knew every way to manage finances, but "The Debt Diet" has shed a welcome light on many other ways to have financial freedom. I love the book and I didn't even have to give up 'CHOCOLATE' to follow Ellie's advice. Thanks, Ellie, for your friendship, advice, prayers, and love over the years.

Summary: Delicious - I couldn't eat just one chapter.....
Review: I gobbled this book down, chapter by chapter. Ellie has written a very comprehensive guide. Not only are there easy to follow worksheets but she has the guts to delve into the "whys". The chapter about the "fight-free zone for couples" was so applicable. I was able to use her suggestions that very night. I wish I had this book when I first got married!

Summary: Losing unwanted lbs (and unwanted high interest rates)
Review: This is an unusual book. Although I read it front-to-back, I've paged back to specific sections to share with my debt-heavy friends, in which the author shows real, doable tactics for losing debt weight. (Also known as dead weight!?)

She includes lots of resources (websites, phone numbers of helpful organizations), and suggestions on how to approach or best take advantage of their services. The sections on FICO scores was excellent--it explained details that go into caculating it, and why it is that I need to know this. Such as: my score could be decent (not terribly low), but still actually cost me real bucks in interest. Thanks, Ms. Kay!

Summary: A book everyone can learn from
Review: This is another superb book by Ellie Kay. My wife and I thought we knew how to save money, avoid debt, and still enjoy ourselves. But once again, Ellie Kay provided meaningful information that was new to us. More importantly, she combined this information with common sense, then presented it all in her unique, entertaining, conversational style. This is an easy book to read, so much so that it is a little surprising how informative it is as well. It is a good gift idea for people in their early 20s who are just getting started financially.
