Rating: Summary: Why can't we give negative numbers for a review? Review: As a student of the Pauline Arts, otherwise known as Angelic Magic, I was excited to learn about this book. However, after reading it, discovering the gross errors, omissions and contradictions that are present in the book, I wish I could get my money back. I'm sure the hosts of angels cringed when this book was published! While this book is based upon a correspondence course created in the 1950's by Madeline Montalban of the Order of the Morning Star, it's obvious that Goddard didn't have all the lessons, or the basic knowledge to fill in the gaps correctly. Interestingly, Goddard suggests the reader create a Life Protection Chart of Lumiel, which is in reality a magic square. However, it is more than obvious that Goddard doesn't recognize the regent status of Lumiel.....which is a key element in the system he alleges to have mastered. If you want to read a decent book on angel magic, try reading The Pillars of Tubal-Cain by Nigel Jackson and Michael Howard. The book (published by Capall Bann) contains gems, although it is in dire need of editing.
Rating: Summary: Nothing special; it contains a few funny mistakes though. Review: As with David's other book (Tower of Alchemy), this book is self-congratulatory. The PREFACE starts thus: "I am one in a lineage of teachers..." It is so rare to see such a style of writing, and it usually indicates that the writer is filled with pride, and has a high estimation of themself. He talks about how the angelic names have "power in their own right", which is a result of their being used for centuries. Most other writers would tend to agree with this. So then, it is quite amusing that he says that the "good angel" to use for operations of Mars is SAMAEL. This is a complete contradiction of what kabbalists have taught for centuries. They have taught that the (arch)angel connected with Mars is Khamael, and that the angel which is the head of the evil demonic forces is Samael. So, Goddard is going to have his unwitting practitioners tapping into a source of power which is regarded as being the fountain of all evil (and has been for centuries). And the probable effect of this is that they will become mentally unstable, probably convinced that they are achieving "wonderful angelic results", when in actuality, they are achieving nothing (to get excited about). Pure delusion... fed by tapping into Samael (amongst other things). Commanding spirits is not such an easy affair as so many new-agers love to think. Easy, simple, quick, and you can have it all tomorrow... The famous Cagliostro who achieved great fame as an alchemist (and who made gold before the eyes many sceptics), a miraculous healer (sought by 1000s for his remedies), a seer who accurately foretold the future (and saw the verification/fulfilment of his predictions), several hundred years ago in Europe, regarded this art as much more difficult that making alchemical gold. This man who lived in pomp and absolute luxury, having a bottomless purse as a result of his gold-making said, "Making diamonds and gold is as nothing, for a man who can command spirits..." Yet somehow, modern day individuals who are utterly incapable of any of Cagliostro's achievements, and who are as grasshoppers when compared to such an individual, would have us believe that they can indeed "command spirits"... I think not. Show us a miracle, and then we will believe you. Go to your local hospital, and heal the cripples and the "incurable" cases. Or how about performing a manifestation/materialisation? If you cannot do any of these (simple) things, then do not fool yourself that you are achieveing greater things.
Rating: Summary: A great book, the best book in the entire world on angels Review: By doing the stuff in this book, everyone will be able to work miracles, and almost be like Jesus. Possibly some of the techniques given in this book could even be used to resurrect dead people. David Goddard is undoubtedly the world's foremost magus. A magus amongst magus's in fact.
Rating: Summary: Not one person has achieved decent results Review: Having wide acquaintance with numerous people in magical circles, I have met many who have widely praised this book, and even more like the reviewer from "Darkest Africa" who were filled with "anticipation", seeing as they had not actually done anything yet. However, sadly, on questioning these people indepth as to what results they had actually achieved with this so-called "angel" magic (sure, Satan too is an angel, but a fallen one!), not one of them had anything of substance to offer. And some of these characters also present themselves to the masses as "lineage-holders" like Mr Goddard. The main "result" that they had achieved was a warm fuzzy feeling, and gratification in the hope that in the invisible realms, something of real sustance might actually be occurring. Too bad that it had no real effect on the physical place. True "lineage-holders" very rarely keep yapping about how they themselves are Sages, nor do they quote verse for verse verbatim from others, without giving credit to where the material has come from. Bunk, pure bunk!! Probably by now, the reader from Darkest Africa has absolutely no enthusiam left for this drivel.

Rating: Summary: An Enjoyable and Practical Book Review: Personally I found this book very useful. Simply written but packed with practical work. Obviously a "doing" book and not a pseudo-intelectual one. I anticipate many hours of enjoyable PRACTICAL work. It is certainly true that some of the material has be sourced from older texts, but not in the way it is presented. I'm dis-inclined to pay much heed to the "Reader from London, UK" as he seems to be too attached to SOL, to realise that they also sourced it from somewhere else! Also, if David is a lineage holder, as he claims, then he has every right to publish that material. On the subject of Samael.. Elphias Levi used Samael as the Spirit or Angel of Mars, in 'Sactum Regnum' he mentions Samael in connection with the 'Deluge.' In 'Trancendental Magic' chapter 15, Levi says: "We are not agreed as to the nature of this blind agent, which, under different leadership, is the instrument of all good or of all evil, the minister of prophets or the inspirer of pythonesses. In a word, the devil, for us, is force placed temporarily at the disposal of evil." Also, in Levi's introduction to Part 2 he says: "The just and terrible force which destroys abortions eternally was called by the Hebrews Samael; by other easterns, Satan; and by the Latins, Lucifer. The Lucifer of the Kabalah is not an accursed and ruined angel; he is the angel who enlightens, who regenerates by fire; he is to the angels of peace what the comet is to the mild stars of the spring-time constellations." However, in the Greater Key of Solomon: "The Spirits of Geburah are the Seraphim, or the Spirits burning with zeal. Their empire is that of the chastisement of crimes. They correspond to the faculty of comparing and of choosing. They have for adversaries the Golab or incindiaries, Genii of wrath and sedition, whose Chief is Asmodeus, whom they also call Samael the Black." As to using Samael, draw your own conclusions... "In the Kingdom of the wit-less, the half-wit is Crowned." - Robert Frezza

Rating: Summary: A sad excuse for a book on angels Review: This book contains several serious errors. The most obvious error is that the student is taught to invoke "Samael" for Mars, but however, kabbalists have taught for centuries that Samael is the Prince of the Dark Forces. Anyone foolish enough to invoke Samael will basically not be doing themselves any good. Also, I have found that several of the talismans contain flaws in them, which means that they cannot (ever) possibly work!
Rating: Summary: Say what you will, My life has been bless by this work! Review: This publication is the best on Sacred Magic that I have found. It clearly explains each working. Gives good examples and works! This to me is the most important aspect.
The working presented are in my opinion authentic and valid. Thank you to the powers that be for making this work available to everyone. If you wish to do Angelic Magic this is the real thing, I know because I've got the results to show for it!
P.s. Having gone over some of the previous comments, I realize many opinions exist about those people who choose to make known information that is not publically available. Pity though that there is this need to sling mud at that which one does not agree with! Opinion is one thing!
