Rating: Summary: Most enchanting, encouraging, and loving..... Review: I read this book about two years ago, it still remains one of the most powerful books I have ever encountered; and it will remain so for the rest of my life. I thank you Jan.I lost my very dear friend, 'Q-Dee', a most charming little 5 lb black male poodle about six years ago. Q-Dee was with me for about 5 years. The name 'Q-Dee', in the Chinese language, means 'Let-it-be little brother'. I named him that because he had a major heart problem when I got him from a breeder who was supposed to sell me a healthy dog. Well, I was cheated on that. But that was another story. Every time I held Q-Dee was a celebration. I was very connected to Q-Dee. He was a charmer, I often told Q-Dee. Finally I had to give him up to the Humane Society, because of his heart problem. I cried and prayed often for Q-Dee, because I missed him so. One day I bought this book, wanting to read about near death experience. To my surprise Jan actually talked about her dog! This pleasant surprise uplifted me totally..... I no longer felt sad, or felt bad for my giving up of (my guilt) Q-Dee. Quite often, I would ask my 6 year old teacup size Yorkie, who was a baby while Q-Dee was around, "Did Q-Dee come to visit you today?" and I'd smile trying to look for an answer from Little Girl (my Yorkie). Each time I was hoping Little Girl would look at me and say "Yes, woof woof." But, she just looked at me as if she did not know what I was talking about; and that was so cute in her own innocent way. The important thing to me is that (1) I know Q-Dee is well, healthy, happy and knows so much, and (2) that he can come to visit us whenever he wants, protecting Little Girl, because little Girl is so tiny. I thank you so much, Jan, again .....

Rating: Summary: Not credible, shameless new age hucksterism Review: If Steve and Edie wrote a book about a near-death experience, this would be it. I have read and appreciated many books on the subject, and I have met several NDE survivors whose stories are moving and credible, but I didn't believe this one. John and Jan Price were professional new-agers before Jan Price's heart attack, and everything they have written here sounds as if they made it up. Jan Price apparently had a heart attack and died for a few minutes, but her recounting of what happened on the other side sounds phony. A good example of her repetitious prose is: "GODLOVE. It fills and sustains me. It is me. It is all, for it is all. I am that I am. No inner. No outer. Just IS. I am aware of all that is. I am all that is," ad nauseam. And her husband's many overblown flowery references to "this woman I love" and "the earthiness of a woman who greatly appreciates sensuous pleasures" made me want to gag. I tried unsuccessfully to believe his account of watching Jan ascend from her body "as a materialization in full form, complete with flowing green gown," while the spirit of the couple's recently departed dog stood guard by the EMS stretcher. I bought this book with pleasure and looked forward to reading about the miracles of life and death. As I read it, I had the growing conviction I am just another duped customer of this couple who exploited Jan's medical emergency to launch a new component to their new-age snake-oil business.

I have read and appreciated many, if not most, of the books available on the subject, and I have met several NDE survivors whose stories are moving and credible, but I didn't believe this one. John and Jan Price were professional new-agers before Jan's heart attack, and everything they have written here sounds as if they made it up. Jan Price says she died for a few minutes during a medical emergency, but her recounting of what happened on the other side sounds phony. A good example of her repetitious prose is: "GODLOVE. I tried unsuccessfully to believe his account of watching Jan ascend from her body "as a materialization in full form, complete with flowing green gown," while the spirit of the couple's recently departed dog stood guard by the EMS stretcher. I bought this book hoping for a meaningful story about one person's experience with the miracles of life beyond death. As I read it I had the growing conviction I had been duped by this couple who exploited Jan's medical event to launch a profitible new component to their new-age snake-oil business.
