Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book Review: (...) A COUPLE were found guilty of abusing two teenage virgins in Satanic rituals 20 years ago. Ex-Army chef David Stalford and wife Bette, 55, were warned they both face "lengthy" jail sentences. The pair, of Hollesley, Suffolk, performed depraved sex acts on the girls during "quasi-religious" candle-lit ceremonies. They were remanded in custody for sentencing at Ipswich Crown Court after being convicted of a total of 11 indecency charges.
Rating: Summary: have a look Review: Back in the late nineteen-eighties I took a series of classes -- basically a kind of catechism -- in Wiccan belief and practice from a group local to the Atlanta area known as Y Tylwyth Teg. It was run by a man who struck me as fitting the stereotype of the wannabe authoritarian -- the sex-starved egotistical bastard with delusions of godhood. His name was Bill Wheeler (a cohort of mine in the computing industry, actually), who styled himself "Rhuddlwm Gawr" for official Wiccan purposes. It didn't take long for me to decide the whole setup was a scam (at least on his part) for sex and money, and it went something like this:
Students taking the series of classes to find out what Wicca is about would pay something like ten dollars per class2 for a series of a dozen classes on various topics associated with the tradition. They were also required to purchase a short series of truly stultifying books -- and I do not exaggerate when I say they were absolutely dreadfully tediously bad, not interesting even as textbook examples of horrible prose -- detailing the ersatz Rhuddlwm Gawr's spiritual journeys on Earth and Earth's "astral plane".3

Rating: Summary: I adore this book Review: I am Welsh - if you look at the previous bad reviews, you will see that the people in this "Trash Welsh Witchcraft club" aren't really Welsh and have not actually read The Way. They can't spell, do not know their own history and about all they can do is speak a little Welsh. That's fine because we Welsh have a long history of not doing what some people want us to do.
But I was a little hesitant to write this review. I was afraid these Welsh terroristic reviewers may find out who I am. There have been rumours that other real Witches have been threatened by them. They certainly are uneducated aren't they?
But, I really wish more Welsh non-pagans and Welsh non-witches would read this book. It has a ton of information, yes, it is very advanced. There are many rituals but no spells, so its not for someone who is looking for Witchcraft or paganism as a way to practice witchcraft and be different from their friends, but it is a look about the Mysteries of Welsh Witchcraft. It has history, and ethics and practices and beliefs, something everyone should know. Beginning Welsh Witches should read this book. I have never read a book yet that has absolutly everything - but this is close. It teaches about the Mysteries as a way to become spiritual. It is totally obvious the previous reviewers didn't even read the book, much less know what it contains. They are just silly.
This is one of the first books on Witchcraft I ever read. Read the chapter on myths. It gives a ton of great information, in a easy to understand format. I think everyone should read this book. I agree that the word "The Way" threw me off in buying it, only because I didn't want to look like I was trying to be one of the wanna be wiccans who are interested in it because its a book that stands out. But I am extremly glad that I did buy it. My copy is doggeared and stained and dusty and look as well used and read and loved as any ritualistic book should. all I can say is buy it, read it, if you don't understand it the first time, read it again. If that still doesn't work, keep it, and read it after practicing longer, and after reading some of the easier to read books. But keep this book. :)
Gwerful
Rating: Summary: Best Book I ever Read Review: I attended Rhuddlwm Gawrs classes in the 70s and early 80s. I found him to be a very honorable person as can be proved by the Website that contains some of his teachings. I traveled to Wales and met some of his Dynion Mwyn teachers. Later my spiritual path diverged and I ended up going more toward druidism. BUT I can say this about his books with no reservation. He is onest, considerate and (too) trusting of a teacher. He may not care what
others say about him, but I say that all those who attack him and do not want you to read his books are false prophets only concerned that people will call them liars if you read his books.
The Quest is a book that tells his story of initiation. The Quest will change your life as it did mine. Yes I am a Fan.
His books changed my life for the better. Thank you Rhuddlwm for your wonderful integrity and conscience.
Rating: Summary: The Way to Welsh Witchcraft Review: I have lived in North Wales for over nineteen years. When I first learned of this book I was skeptical - I mean here is an American - a Yank! - writing about US!!! But after I bought it and read it. I think it is one of the best books on the Pagan Welsh I have read. Please read it if you have the bob to buy it. It is expensive. But worth it. Initiation, Gods and Goddesses, starting a coven, ritual, its all there. I have it sitting on my altar and use it constantly.
Rating: Summary: The Way to Knowledge Review: I have read the Way several times. Once in 1985 and twice over the last month. Those critics who have given it poor reviews obviously haven't read the Way. It does not contain theosophical teachings. I know. I'm a theosophist. These critics must have read something else. They also dislike the author. It is obviously a personal thing and has nothing to do with the value of the Book. I have a degree in Welsh History and a long association with the Welsh Folklore Society. Besides actually visiting Betws-y-coed and tracing the authors life, I have interviewed several members of Y Tylwyth Teg in Florida and two members of The Dynion Mwyn "mother grove" in Wales. Very interesting people. I may debate whether the family which taught the authors, was totally correct in their philosophy, but I can say they were honest and sincere. I found nothing inconsistent with the ideas and words in the Way. In fact, I was hard pressed to contradict anything they purported to believe. Those who are criticising the book are listening to rumour instead of reading the book. I wonder why they don't want you to read it? If in fact it contains some ideas and words allegedly taken from other sources, so what. I have read over sixty books on Witchcraft in the last 17 years which are like reading a carbon copy of each other. But, I also have read the Way. From whatever source these Co-authors obtained their material, it is fresh and absolutely wonderful. No, the critics didn't bother to read the books. They just have a problem with people reading the truth. The author(s) must be doing something right. A very famous book store in California has already (according to them) sold over a thousand copies. Good for you Rhuddlwm. You've done good. Excellent Book on Welsh Witchcraft. There is a rumour that someone is talking to the author about a movie project, based on the books he has written over the last thirty years. I am looking forward to seeing it.
Rating: Summary: The nasty reviewers must be frustrated Christians Review: In the United States, Wicca and Witchcraft have by and large degenerated into silliness, choked on spells and drugs. Here in Wales, it is difficult to even mention the fact that Witchcraft exists because of the foolish people who try to compare it with known History. This is unfortunate; the religion of Taliesin einion Vawr, Gerald Gardner (and later Alex Sanders) had solid scholarly as well as mystical roots. While some of those roots have since become suspect -- there was real intellectual activity, appreciation for the mysteries, and real philosophical rigor, behind this religion. These were serious people who weren't afraid to visit a library, expose their family history, and who even included some decent poetry in their rituals. Go to their web page at http://www.tylwythteg.com if you want the real truth behind their religion. *The Quest* is written by two Welsh Witches. The title does not lie: it truly is a Quest of "The Way" of Welsh Witchcraft. After reading this, you will know what a Circles is, What Welsh Witchcraft is. You won't be an initiated Witch -- that can only be done by someone who possesses the lineage to do so -- but you will be able to serve the God and Goddess in a Welsh Witch style. You will also be ready to study for initiation and to reap its benefits and fulfill its responsibilities. This book isn't perfect: I disagree with some of their views on gender polarity. Still, it deserves 5 stars merely because it stands so far above its competition. This volume will prove more useful to you than any of the silly fluffy-bunny trash which pollutes so many Newage bookstores today. It's Witchcraft as it was, as it could be, and as it should have been. You will appreciate our country within a country after you read this book. It is Real. No Neopagan should be without it.
Rating: Summary: frankiz Review: Ni a zo bretoned, an oll feulzet gant gevier William Wheeler. Skrivan a reomp da sikour hor breuder geltiek a-enep an den-man.
We are the breton delegation writing to express our concern about the lies fabricated by this tradition. We are Celts and are campaigning to prevent people like this author from profiting by lying about our historic nations. On behalf of the Breton nation we wish to underline our disgust at the way Celtic history is manipulated and abused by one who clearly has no first-hand knowledge of our cultures and history. We give our whole support to our Celtic cousins who are in dispute with the leader of this sect.
Dalc'hit mat hor c'henvreudeur.
Rating: Summary: make up your own mind Review: This book has a lot of interesting philosophical material. It is such a pity that the author, William Wheeler, is unable to distinguish between reality and fantasy. He has enraged the whole Welsh nation by his lies. There have been numerous exposés of his prepostorous claims concerning Wales. His second language is not Welsh. He has, at best, a rudimentary knowledge of the basic vocabulary. He is entirely unable to pronounced his self-appointed pseudonym - Rhuddlwm Gawr - which he pronounces as Rudloom Gore - I have heard him on numerous occasions. His knowledge of Welsh history, geography, language, culture is atrocious - he lacks the intelligence and honesty to admit this and resorts to attacking anyone who dares to question his teachings. Almost all his teachings concerning Wales have been based on a handful of dated books. You can easlily check this out by buying some good books on Wales and Welsh history. Recently he has taken to attacking those who dare tell the truth. He calls them Welsh nationalists. As if this was an insult. He quite clearly doesn't know a thing about Wales - Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales, has seats in Westminister and an European MP. It also has hundreds of councillors in English speaking South East Wales. Nobody in Wales cares about paganism - go ahead, please worship the old Welsh Gods (they will probably only understand Welsh obviously!!!!!!!!!, just like Germanic gods still haven't learnt French - I kinda think gods are a bit lazy sometimes). No the only problem with William Wheeler is that he will not admit to his lies. They are so obvious that children in Wales laugh at him. He never thought he would be caught out. If you want to join Y Tylwyth Teg go ahead - you will probably get a lot out of it - they have a very good record on green issues. Just be aware that you are paying a lot of money for something which has nothing to do with real Welsh culture.
Rating: Summary: Mandatory Review: This is mandatory study guide for the Welsh tradition of Dynion Mwyn. I am a student and teacher of the tradition and live in Denbigh. This book totally took me by surprise when I first read it years ago, and now its reprinted AGAIN for the tenth time! Teaches everything you would need to know to become a Welsh seeker after truth. Excellent book
