Summary: Wisdom That Fills Your Soul
Review: A book that adds meaning throughout each chapter. Some of the words do repeat themselves from time to time. However, the wisdom of the Rebbe always seems to have a positive reflection with hope for a better world. Even when dealing with death, The Rebbe reflects how the departed person's soul has risen to a higher plain. Other inspring moments include the birth of a child, the importance of keeping healthy, and the many joys of marriage.

This book may not be easy to absorb if you are first learning how to be spiritual. But give it some time and you will certainly feel fine.

Summary: good for all
Review: Both the title and the jacket of this book caught my attention, but little did I know what an incredible book this was until I began to read it. "Wisdom" only begins to describe it. It is so much deeper than that word conveys. Every time I read a selection from it, I see it with fresh eyes, and get something new from it. I've read it, and recommended it, over and over. I can't get enough of it.

Summary: Excellent, non-denominational book of ethics, values
Review: Exactly the kind of humanism you would expect from a wise rebbe. He has not let us down in this book.

Summary: generally well done
Review: I agree with most of the positive comments made by other reviewers. One minor caveat: some of the essays are much more dated than others (which is probably why a new edition came out). For example, one essay on youth rebellion was probably written (or spoken) in the 1960s, and some of the essays are a bit too gee-whiz optimistic to be totally persuasive in 2003 (after the Sept. 11 disaster and the worldwide explosion of anti-Semitism that followed it).

Review: My mother is a Lubavitcher and she sent me this book. I readit a year later and was delighted to find that it is one of the mosthumanistic, clear-headed, non-dogmatic collections of wisdom about how to live one's life as a moral, responsible, righteous person. It covers different part of life---birth, adolescence, marriage, death---as well as some of the toughest issues of our time. A fountain of wisdom that I felt driven to share with others!

Summary: A MUST READ!
Review: This book has had a huge impact on my life-- so much so, that I have purchased 30 copies for friends and family. Anyone seeking to learn about the spiritual depth of Judaism will find this book hard to put down! If you, like me, have had a hard time finding meaning in Reform or Conservative Judaism, and seek a greater understanding of "What does it mean to be Jewish", then you will get a tremendous amount from this book.

Summary: A Man for all seasons and People
Review: This is a book I read and re-read and give as a gifte to friends Jew and Non-Jew. I remember when the Rebbe died and ABC NIGHTLINE covered his passing. I had become interested in him even more. Living in the Sierra Mountain foothills, his writings life were and still are a sense of humble awe.

His piece on Marriage and how it was a gift from G~d and that when we love our spouse we are showing G~d we love the gift he has given us. It is also nice to give this book to friends so they can see hwo important sexual intimacy in mariage is and that Jews are taught from the Torah that we are to please our spouse.

His piece on LOVE is subtitled The Purest Expression of the Soul and the Rebbe reminds us all that love is the single most necessary component of life. He then mentions the Thou Thy Neighbor as Thy Self and one realizes that it is true, we often treat others based on how we reallllly feel about ourselves.

INTIMACY The Sanctity of Sexuality is wonderful because he discusses the difference between G~d given sexual pleasure that quenches the bodies thirst, vs the humanistic sex that is like fast food. It stills the hunger pangs but doesn't nourish the body.

HOME AND FAMILY has the subtitle Buildinga Garden for Yourself and G~d. and the subtitle alone made me cry as it speaks volumes of the importance of G~d in the Jewish home and how the home really is the safe haven G~d wants us to strive for.

His books covers G~D, HEALTH, WORK, CHARITY and WEALTH, AGING, PAIN and SUFFERING and DEATH. FAITH and REASON and much much more.

I am so thankful to G~d that this man lived amongst us and for the simple yet rich wisdom he shared. And reading about his marriage and life in general has made me re-think my life.

This is one of those books you either read a chapter aloud each evening for your family or after reading a chapter, you want to share what this dear man has shared. Thus passing the gift on to others.
