Review: The author, a respected Buddhologist specializing in East Asia, has conducted a solid inquiry into the nature of the Chinese cultural environment that produced the _Baozang lun_, or _Treasure Store Treatise_. The book starts with a long introduction into some key sinitic Buddhist concepts and the relationship between Buddhism and Daoism. The last part of the book contains the translation of the _Baozang lun_, which is exemplary.
