Rating: Summary: highly recommended Review: As a tarot reader, for many years. I found this book very easy for the beginner or for any level. I have used several of the spells. They do work . Janina makes it easy step by step to use the book. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the magic of tarot cards. But just remember about your karma, when doing any type of spellwork
Rating: Summary: If you do a lot of Tarot you will like this Review: I cast a lot of spells with Tarot before reading this book (like instead of using my wand, I used my Tarot), and I thought this book was totally cool. It works really well, and it is easy to understand for those who just started working with Tarot, maybe a little "harder" for those who have used Tarot a lot before. But if you really want to get into the Tarot this is a great book to start out with.
Rating: Summary: Ethics? Review: I have studies the Occult for over thirty years, and have read many books on the subject. Most of the material is useless as far as doing practical magic. Carl Jung wrote that the the Archetypes run our physical world, and the Archetypes can be acessed via the Subconcious (Right-Brain.)The Tarot cads are pictures of the Archetypes, and when presented in a dramic and symbolic way, with ritual and perhaps candles and incense, the Archetype in our Unconcious is activated, "Constellated", and things happen...sometimes quickly. Like the other reviewer,I found the spells are more likely to "kick in" (work) if you first perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual Of The Pentagram, then do what the book says. I got the book in the mail, set up a quick altar, lit some candles and incense, and displayed the cards for a love attraction spell to bring back a girl who I had not been with for over a month. Even before I finished performing the spell, a car pulled into my driveway, and there standing at my door was the girl I wanted back.I had conjured her up...The spell had worked with blinding speed. Coincidence? Synchronicity?........Perhaps...But that's the way these spells work: They simply deliver what you want. The key to power here is activating the world-shaping power of the Archetypes.A word to the Wise is sufficent. This book hits the ground running, and gives you spells that work. This book has brought good things into my life, and the spells get right at the meat of the matter. I highly reccomend this book if you are looking for powerful but simple spells that actually work.Don't forget to do the LBRP first...Scripts of the ritual are all over the WWW. This book is a lot of power for a good price, and the cover is very tasteful as well. It would make a thoughtful gift.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: I must say at first I was a little weary about a book of tarot spells, especially the love spells, but there actually formatted to bring positive results with no harm done, it's awesome how she set up the wording of all her spells, and the spells are simple and straight to the point. this is a great book for beginers. All in all this book covers a wide range of everyday life, and the results are fantastic. LVX
Rating: Summary: Worked for me! Review: I totally recommend this book. I just bought it over the weekend since I have tarot cards but always wanted to use them for something more than readings. I tried the love spell and action spell since I was currently having some issues with my boyfriend. The next day I receive a page from him saying 'I love you' and he's never said that. I'm not sure if that's proof enough that these spells work, but knowing about what a slow-mover he is, I believe they definitely helped!
Rating: Summary: An excellent source for simple spells Review: Janina Renee performed a work of magick in itself when she wrote this book. The spells and instructions within it are simple and understandable for anyone interested in Magick or Tarot. The wide variety of spells is also a treat if you are looking for any one specific thing. Money spells, love spells, even spells to bind trouble makers, this book has it all. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Highly Recommended Review: OMG where to start with the bull-crap of this book! The one thing I noticed right away that got old real fast, was the author was constantly referring to 'the spells in this book'. How annoying! Next, there was a very brief, three paragraph NOTE on ethics. Ethics are a very big issue and needs more than three paragraphs to explain properly. There is this small issue of messing with free will, that will return to the spell caster times three...I wouldn't want to be that person! Then I read that the author has made these spells 'as possitive as possible' with out using any of the 'bad' cards in the tarot and then goes on to list an example...such as the Death card. What a load of bull-sh**! The author is obviously not very educated in the tarot, and sounds like a teen-ager lookin to get rich, quick, wrote this book. The Death card is not a negative card! It represents change, choices to be made, illness at the most but never litterally death! Then the author goes on to how these spells 'must' be done. There has to be this rigid spell casting layout with candles, the cards, and the book. Oye. The author fails to encourage readers at any point in the book to make their own spells. Not only does that make the spell more effective, it personallizes it. The feeling I get from this is that these spells must be performed from this book or they may not work. A very bad book to start out with tarot. Maybe those who are more experienced in spell crafting and have knowledge of ethics and how to personalize the spells for themselves would this book be of any help. But then, if they are that educated, then they would not need this book at all. A very dissapointing waste of paper, ink, and time this book is. One of the worst, in my opinion, that Llewellyn has published(copyrighted in 1990, so that may explain the lack of ethic explaining). If you are curious about the content of this book, for goodness sake, buy it used and don't waste your money on a 'new' copy. It is just not worth it.
Rating: Summary: The tarot is the perfect tool for spells! Review: Simply, this book is great. The book is not steeped in any particular religion - it is a spell book as the title states. The tarot is the perfect tool for spells and you can, of course add any extra ritual enhancements as you like. The spells are easy to perform, relate to and the visualizations are wonderful!
Rating: Summary: Highly Recommended Review: This is a wonderful book, and I highly recommend it. As a working witch and a tarot reader I find this book very handy. The spells are easy to perform, but the reader always gets enough room and guidance to be creative and personal without causing a little WWIII. I use this book quite often, and the spells work brilliantly.
