Far from the cotton candy, warm fuzzy approach taken by so many daily devotional readings, this collection draws on the wisdom of two millennia worth of writers from Clement of Rome to Dietrich Bonhoffer. The readings are primarily excerpts from larger essays and Atwell does a fine job of selectig salient portions from the larger works.
