Rating: Summary: A pure and enlightened work. Review: "Principles of Knowledge" is a brilliantly refreshing work, giving intelligent yet frighteningly simple insights into the fundamentals of the human condition. Often the truths revealed are so obvious and clear upon reading them, that reflective thought upon one's own life is certain, and misconceptions concerning once deemed importance seem to fall away into nothingness. For those of you who have endured your way through ambiguous, and often silly, games with words and image(taken seriously) that have been categorized under the terms of philosophy, magic, or religion, welcome to a very good book. If the definition of knowledge and wisdom in your search is a lot of impressive ritual acts combined with symbols attributed to power in order to gain so called secrets of "sorcery" this is not the book for you. Why? Because this is a book of truths on a foundational level, it is a book based upon the "Principles of Higher Knowledge". Unfortunately I have found that most people seek a certain level of "bizarreness" in order to justify what they will term as magic, but this in itself reflects what they truly seek to find when they use the term "magic", and sadly it is "entertainment" only that they seek, and so they fall into believing illusion as a system for their truths, sought under a misleading guise some call magic. There is an unquestionable "purity" in this book that makes most magical systems seem trivial, because the information in this book is not a "system" and it is not a guide for domination over unseen forces, nor is it the sorcery of illusion. It is a book of power through understanding and the acceptance of who and where we are. -Eric Cantwell
Rating: Summary: Excellent Foundation Review: This is a cornerstone work in any Metaphysical library, of like caliber as Agrippa's books on Natural Philosophy. It is a thorough, well developed treatment of the topic. The translation from german to english has been done in a smooth and natural way so that the text is not obtrusive to the reader. It is a wonderful work that you will savor and enjoy as you work through it. The word Magic evokes all sorts of images and prejudices in Man. This book should make it clear to an open minded and intelligent reader that Magic is simply knowledge of the highest sort. I am so glad that the publisher ( Merkur) has made these germanic esotericists available here in the US. We are truly living in enlightened times.
