Rating: Summary: A Reaction to Rabbi' Hertz's Translation of the Pirke Aboth Review: Coming from a Christian background, but interested in all of humankind's rich legacy of scripture, I began to run across quotes from and references to the Pirke Abothe or "Sayings of the Fathers". Eventually, I found this singular book, a tractate of the Mishnah of our Jewish brothers and sisters. One cannot help but be struck in reading the basic text by the reverence for the Holy, the love of people, and the struggle to share and instill this reverence and love in all of us. But this unique rendering is threaded with warm and deep illustrations by Michoel Muchnik and appealing and penetrating interpretations by the translator Rabbi Joseph H. Hertz. It's a book to own and cherish and to share with your friends.
