Summary: Wealth of info, needs more illustrations
Review: Good guide for beginners interested in understanding the traditional powers and energies associated with gems and stones, as well as gem/color associations. My favorite Chapter is 7, an alphabetized list of various stones and gems and their specific powers. I like the way she suggests pairing of stones and metals and how to wear and use them. I only wish it had more illustrations. It's hard to identify some of the gems and stones with no pictures. Definately read the table of contents so you see how she's organized it or you may get a bit lost.

Summary: great book to get started with gemstones
Review: I just started to learn about gemstones for use with the chakras, and healing, etc. This book was recommended to me and I'm glad it was.

Summary: A useful book for Women's Spirituality
Review: I purchased this book to learn more about the lore of gems, which I use in my Women's Icons. There is much useful historical and cultural information in this book, which does not oversell the healing power of gems. Marilyn Mor, MA

Summary: some things were missing
Review: I was pretty disappointed in this book, and was glad I only spent $11.00 on it...The author's opinions about diamonds, especially, seemed very cynical and negative to me, after all I have read elsewhere about the spiritual qualities and healing properties of these stones. Also, there was not a word about two of my other favorite stones, Iolite or Tanzanite. She did say in one part of the book "Always select gems and stones that make you feel good, never ones that someone else forces you to wear." I take this to mean that I can keep wearing the gems that make me feel good, and not take her as an authority.

Summary: Stone Power
Review: Stone Power is a light-hearted introductory book that would be a fun read for anyone new to the legends and lore surrounding gemstones. It would make a fun gift, too. The current edition would be improved upon by the addition of certain stones not mentioned, i.e. kunzite, morganite, tanzanite, iolite, and moldavite. Even so, it's still a great book!

Summary: Great overall synopsis of basic stone lore.
Review: The books contains excellent information on some stones and metals. Very practical also. It's not "The Complete Guide to Stone Power" due to it's limited amount of listed stones. But with the ones that are being explained the author did a great job. Great for beginners, or the very busy business person interested.

Summary: An excellent guide for beginners
Review: The first of my books on stones. It is a concise and informative book that gives a good brief on; describing the stone.. colour, hardness, healing properties, gives details of how the stones were used in ancient time and much much more. I now have several books but always find this to be the book I refer back to time and time again. I fully recommend this as a beginners guide and to people who want an all round book.

Summary: Great overall synopsis of basic stone lore.
Review: This author gives a smattering of historical views of gem folklore as well as her own experiences. Easy format to understand and unlike some other books who cut and paste phrases for 10s of 1000s of stones, this author is concise and fun to read. The mumbo jumbo and catch phrases you find in many other books are thankfully missing. A fun overview for anyone even slightly interested in folklore. Note that this includes only stones that are pretty well known by most and that were loved and revered by past generations.

Summary: Excellent Explanations of Gemstones.......
Review: This book is one that you will want in your crystal book collection, to find out which stones are the right ones for you! You will learn of the many aspects of gems not mentioned in other books of its kind, such as what gemstones to wear as jewelry, where to wear them, and how it will benefit you. I especially like the chapter on finger rings, explaining what gems to wear according to what each finger represents, match a gem to manifest your desire.
