Summary: Excellent Book For Beginners!
Review: I just want to say that this book makes a complicated looking project extremely easy! This book includes instructions on how to do certain spreads, including one card spreads, three card spreads, the keltic cross spread, the keltic cross spread (simplified), Zodiac spread and the month by month version, category spread and spiritual guidance (Court Arcana). This book also explains how to make your own spread if you are interested in doing so.
One of the most important things about this book is that it gives you a base meaning of each and every card. CAUTION: This book is based on the Rider/Waite decks. I personally use the Universal WAITE Tarot Deck, and this book corresponds to the deck perfectly. (It's the same deck) I will tell you, keep an open mind. Don't get too specific with the details, because sometimes we need to think about the meaning of the card. In doing this, we need to have a good question, which is also explained in this book.
There are other books on the market, however I have found this book to be one of the easiest books to interpret. But like I said before, please try and keep an open mind about things, and let this book guide you through your tarot quest.

Summary: An interesting twist
Review: A very interesting and different way of interpreting cards in a spread. Describes how you would read a card if it is in a spread for money, relationships, home life, and a whole lot more. A different meaning for every divinary position. Although this could get a little confusing at first, and hard to understand until you get past the first chapter. It causes one to have to hit the book for every divinary meaning. It's good to start with, although the basis of Tarot is to use your intuition, not a meaning in a book.

Summary: THE BEST TAROT BOOK EVER, EVER, EVER.
Review: Do your own accurate tarot readings with this book. Other reviewers are right, you do have to depend on this book for the "answer." But that's why Nancy Garen has her other book, The Tarot according to you, A Workbook," which I'm buying next. But this book...well I was doing a reading using the X-Lover spread which I found in the book Power Tarot by Trish Macgregor and using the card interpretations from this book. I was asking the question if my exboyfriend and I would get back together and every card was coming up negative so under my breath I said to myself, "this is like resurrecting the dead" as I realized the possibilities weren't likely. Well my NEXT card was the 10 of Wands and under the category "UNION" I read the interpretation and it read as follows: "You will hope for a resurrection in your relationship, but will feel as if you are trying to raise the dead." WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THAT!!! I WAS BLOWN AWAY. How can it read my mind? I love this book. My goal is to be able to read the cards this accurately and I will work with "The Tarot according to You" but in the meanwhile, it doesn't get any better than this. Buy this book today!

Summary: This book tells you everything and is easy to understand.
Review: I bought this book three years ago when I began using Tarot Cards. It is the best investment I made in a tarot book. Other books are difficult to understand. This comes out and tells you what you want to know. And it also breaks down each card into different catergories so you can make precise readings. If you are just learning, it is great. And it is even if you are experienced. Nancy Garen did a wonderful job.

Summary: The Best Of It's Type
Review: I first purchased this book when I was 15 - I am now 23 and I still use it, despite the rips and pages worn by thumbing. This book leads you through the thinking behind tarot cards, the spreads, the impact of numerology of on tarot and other information that is crucial for a newbie. But then comes the beauty of the book. Every tarot card has 32 sections which you can read depending on what your question is. "What does my love life hold for me in the next 3 months?" you ask the cards and instead of reading an interpretation that you have to fit to the question, you just look up "Love" under the card and read. You could also look in the section of "Others" or "Unions". One of the best features is the "Special Guidance" section, which can give you advice (often spiritual) on how to deal with the future. Even if you don't believe in tarot, this section has words of wisdom.
The only way this book could have been made better would have been to add a chapter on the history of tarot cards. I feel this is important information to a newbie, and am confused at the lack of it. Thus the 4 stars. Actually 4 and a half ;).
If you are new to tarot cards and looking for a great book to help you learn and interpert them look no further. Even if you are an experienced reader I'm sure you will get something out of this book.

Summary: Excellent Book!
Review: My interest in doing tarot readings myself has been hampered by the lack of a good guide for a beginner. Generally, tarot books explaining the different card sets are based on symbolism that is to vague or esoteric to apply confidently (for me in any case). I find this book comprehensive, yet easy to understand. Frankly, it has kindled my interest in this area.

Summary: Very good for reference!
Review: The idea behind this book is great. So many times we see a card in a spread and just can't seem to understand how it relates to our question or issue at hand. There is a wealth of information here!! It is good for the more experienced reader when they get stumped.. or for the beginner to check their accuracy or open up new ideas. BUT..this book is also a sort of 'cliff notes' on tarot. If you become reliant on this book, as opposed to using it as a reference, you will never really learn tarot.. you will just be good at looking up information. If your main use of tarot is to shock your friends at a party.. then no big deal. If you want to study tarot.. use this book with caution.. it may help you give good readings, but it will not teach you to READ!!!

Summary: User Friendly
Review: This is the best book for learning how to read the tarot and it is really good for helping you interpret your own readings. I recommend this for anyone starting out.

The guidance that is offered is superior to anything that I've seen. Nancy Garen is very insightful and inspirational.

Summary: Best tarot book I've read
Review: This is, in my opinion, the definitive guide to reading tarot cards. It goes through every card in the deck and explains its meaning in numerous categories (e.g. love, work, guidance, others, the unexpected, etc.) so that you can approach each card from multiple perspectives, depending upon the focus of your reading. The author describes the numeric principle behind each card, as well as the meaning of a given number, especially if it crops up repeatedly in a reading. She also goes into a lot of detail about the meanings of each suit (Cups, Wands, Pentacles and Swords). The sample of tarot spreads are excellent: I particularly liked the Court Card spread and her own Spiritual Spread, which gave me very precise answers. The book also helps with interpreting time frames in a reading: each card relates to a particular season and can signify when an event might occur. The information contained herein allows you to deduce answers to both pragmatic questions (will I move house next month?) and esoteric concerns (will I find love?) with a lot of precision as each card's earthly, pragmatic meaning is detailed along with its more spiritual connotation.

This book is a wealth of information and I would recommend it over any other tarot interpretation guide I've ever read.
