Rating: Summary: Read more before you comment Review: I have already started cleaning house! Its amazing how we hold on to unnecessary ill gotten treasure, and what do I mean by "ill gotten"? Stuff like gifts handed to me from previous bad relationships, i.e. clothes, jewelry, heavy metal and rock CDs, and junk one acquires over the years. I have asked God to show me what is preventing me from having a closer relationship with Him, and he has brought to mind many things that I normally I would not have thought had a spiritual significance. In some cases I struggled throwing stuff away, but the Holy Spirit quickly reminded me "obedience" is more pleasing to God than "sacrifice." By acting on obedience I have now learned to pay attention to the voice in our hearts like Isaiah the prophet. When he says in Isaiah 30:21-22: "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice saying, 'This is the road! Now follow it.' Then you will treat your idols of silver and gold like garbage; you will throw them away like filthy rags."Wow! I am recommending this book to others in my church. This book is really good for those desiring to move on to spiritual maturity. Thanks Alice and Eddie!
Rating: Summary: A Book for the Christian Family Review: Spiritual Housecleaning by Eddie and Alice Smith is an outstanding book that reveals how Satan works to destroy our homes and our lives. Although many of his schemes may seem insignificant and perhaps innocent, they are designed to cause havoc in a Christian home. In this book, Alice and Eddie help us understand why these things are harmful to our Christian walk. Then they skillfully lead us through the steps to purify our homes. This book is a must for every Christian family!
Rating: Summary: Good Intentions, but not quite there yet Review: The Smith's offer the reader more to consider in the practices of discernment. Surely there are items in one's home that can be a defilement. The Smith's help point us in the direction in asking the questions, "is this worth keeping in my house?" Their writing made me ask myself that very question. And I was convicted of what to rid myself of. On the other hand, I feel that Smith's are a bit fanatical in their writing. The book sometimes felt more like a horror story. I admit that If I wanted to scare myself in a good ghost story, I would pick up this title and read it once again. (Remember the days when you sat in a darkened room with friends or siblings and tried to tell the scariest ghost story.) Spiritual House Cleaning did just that for me. As a previous reviewer mentioned, unquote, "they seemed to be conjuring the spirits themselves." Sometimes, I feel the Smiths were looking for ghosts. I say "don't mess with the supernatural!"
Rating: Summary: Pure hearts, Cleansed homes. Review: This is a great book that puts many experiences we've had into words and discusses many critical scriptures that are relevant for Chrisitans today. As Christians there are so many things we have in our homes that don't honor God and truely can effect the spiritual atmosphere around us. Spiritual House Cleaning is a powerful and practical book that has strengthened our family's understanding & discernment. Romans 12:2 says we must daily renew (cleanse) our minds to walk closely to God. It doesn't surprise me that this could also apply to our homes and possessions. Believers from other nations readily believe the biblical message of this book. My husband & I feel the message of Spiritual House Cleaning could change the church in this nation.
Rating: Summary: Spiritual House Cleaning Review: This topic can cause fear to rise in the reader's heart but the truth that is revealed brings a simple, Biblical step by step of insight and pratical freedom any person can obtain by being well informed. Most people are struggling with problems in their home and with people, this book brings to the surface the hidden causes. An innocent purchase, souvenirs, family heirlooms, a cultural practice, etc. have a history. Eddie and Alice Smith have taken time and invested years of study and have practical knowledge which substantiate their recommendations and pratical steps to rid a home of personal conflict and bring back family harmony. I recommend this book for anyone needing understanding to any unanswered questions concerning their home and unexplained situations, illnesses, and continual unrest. Each chapter builds on the next and allows the reader to have a sense of empowerment through understanding and functional steps to follow and then prayers to complete the house cleaning. The Smith's have put biblical rights back into the hands of the Christians thus making God every more real. Thank you.
Rating: Summary: Read more before you comment Review: To the LA reader that commented that yoga is harmless and Halloween is okay. I suggest that you find out the root of things before you start commenting. For your information: the root of Yoga is Indian Hindu worshipping. It looks very innocent, that's how the devil disguised it. Many people are practicing yoga as a form of exercise.. but in yoga, you meditate as you go further into it. Just like Chinese QiKong , Tai Chi, Martial art etc... the root of all these go back to worshipping/praying to some sort of gods. When you meditate in yoga, you allow your mind to be free/empty.. that's how the devil can come in and have a foothold in your life. as for Halloween, the root goes back to pagan worshipping and even sacrificing humans. So, LA reader, don't say that it is harmless just because it is nicely packaged and looks innocent & pretty.
Rating: Summary: Read Further..Dig Deeper Review: To the LA reader that says Yoga is harmless... Do you know that the posture and position when one is doing the yoga exercise is actually in adoration to the different Indian gods & deities. To you, it look very harmless because it's such another form of exercise..But if you are a Christian who truly love the Lord and want only to worship Him...Do you think you would do an exercise that is praising & worshipping many Indian gods by your body gesture..Especially when you say that your body is a temple of God. I would find it very contradicting if a born again, love the Lord - person say they love the Lord and then use their body to worship idols.
So.. dig deep into the roots of things that the world is doing and things that look pretty & innocent on the surface.
I have seen with my own eyes what the devil can do with stuff that look as innocent as a carved wooden pair of fork & spoon ! The carver prayed to their gods when they carve and cast a spell into them and as Christians when you buy that home, you are urshering home more than a decorative.
Blessings on you.
