Rating: Summary: Find Out What Enhances and Detracts From Your Life Purpose Review: "The sign in which the North Node falls denotes the psychological shift that need to occur within the personality. The house containing the North Node shows the experiences that allow the person to access this new psychological awareness...The South Node position in a chart (located at the point exactly opposite of the North Node) depicts an aspect in our character that has been overemphasized in past lives, and thus tends to take over the personality in this lifetime and throw us off balance. When we are acting without awareness, we tend to 'act out' the South Node position in response to our environment because we have been accustomed to that approach working to our advantage. However, in this lifetime, our experiences show us that approaching a situation from the stance shown by the position of the Southern Node of our chart is no longer working..." -- Jan Spiller in Astrology For The SoulIn her book Astrology for the Soul, astrologer Jan Spiller shows you the key to discovering your hidden talents, deepest desires, and the ways to avoid negative influences that may distract you from achieving your true life purpose, as revealed by the North Node of the Moon in your natal astrological chart. Although Spiller mostly uses the term North Node, she takes into consideration that the North Node exists in polarity with the South Node--and how they both manifest in our attitude, personality, and drive. To discover your North Node, you need to generate a chart. You can do this by going to Astro.com Once you enter the birth time, date, and place a chart will be generated. Chart Drawing, Ascendant is where generated charts are stored. To find your North Node (NN) look for the glyph (symbol) that looks like a horseshow with curlicues on the end. The South Node (NN) will be in the House directly opposite the North Node, although it won't be pictured. The symbol for the SN is an inversion of the NN glyph. You also can also find your NN placement by gettng software like Mapping Your Birthchart. In Astrology For The Soul each of the 12 Nodal positions are examined in areas like: *Attributes to develop *What these people really want *Talents/Profession *Healing Affirmations *Personality *Needs *Relationships *Goals *Healing theme songs Here is a small sample of Attributes to Develop for each of the 12 Nodal positions as described in this book: Aries - Independence, trusting one's impulses, and self-nurturance Taurus - Honoring expressed needs of self and others, forgiveness, and gratitude. Gemini - Tact, logic, and listening. Cancer - Empathy, humility, and accepting others flaws without judgment. Leo - Individuality, self-confidence, and enthusiasm. Virgo - Moderation, creating routines, and taking risks in spite of fears. Libra - Cooperation, seeing through another's eyes, creating win/win situations. Scorpio - Self-discipline, choosing constructive change, and enjoying high-risk situations. Sagittarius - Patience, speaking from Higher Consciousness, and intuitive listening. Capricorn - Self-control, self-respect, and letting go of the past. Aquarius - Objectivity, desire for friendship, and active participation in groups. Pisces - Compassion, surrending anxiety to a Higher Power, and welcoming change. I highly recommend this informative book for releasing negative life patterns, embracing your strengths, and living a more centered and self-directed life. Rating: Summary: If you let yourself read this with an open mind you could be Review: amazed, astonished, helped, intrigued. I just started studying astrology and recently joined AA. An odd combo I realize, but such is life. With a Gemini north node in my fourth house, I have read the relevant chapters and have been amazed, astonished, helped, intrigued and plenty more (let me get my thesaurus...). Read in conjunction with AA's Big Book, I have felt some real healing in my life. Both are eminently practical, easy to read, easily understandable and, best of all, helpful. As I said, I have just begun my studying of astrology (I have read Tarot for more than 15 years) and am full of wonder and awe at the riches it has revealed. Spiller's book has allowed me to look at some less than pleasant parts of my personality with something new to me: hope. I am eagerly looking forward to her next book on aspects--a subject which I am just about to start studying seriously. I picked up this book while looking at basic astrology titles, and I can recommend it without reservation to anyone with even a cursory interest in serious astrology. You won't be confused or overwhelmed by what can be an enormously complex subject. Read it with an open mind and it can be an invaluable tool. It has literally been a source of revelation to me.
Rating: Summary: A book about reincarnation & north nodes Review: Hello, I am a serious student of astrology, and I did not enjoy this book. It spoke too much of my previous life, and it is more copious than it needs to be. In addition, the author only talks about the nodes in signs and houses, and does not include aspects. The information provided is superficial and available for free on the Internet. Email me if you have any questions or would like to discuss the book.

Rating: Summary: Inspiring, uplifting Review: I am very happy to be able to review this excellent book. I discovered it by intuition and have not regeretted buying it! I feel as if a piece of heaven has fallen to earth in the form of this book, it really is such a treasure. Jan says the North node makes the rest of your natal chart come alive, and it's so true. It's like reading about yourself; so many of her little gems of insight are things I have felt before about myself but hadn't yet properly crystallised. A wonderful guide to how to get the best from yourself and your life, I am very thankful to Jan Spiller for having written this inspiring, uplifting work. I wonder how to contact her....?

As part of my journey in knowledge, I found I wanted to know a lot more about the North Node, and the message and lessons it imparts. Jan Spiller's book is giving me great guidance in this area. I highly recommend it to any astrological student, but especially anyone wanting to learn about the North Node.

Rating: Summary: The North Node and your Soul... Review: Once again the author has done a great job of presenting her material in a way that anyone can use and get something from it. The first part of the book guides you through the process of finding the position of your North Node ¡V which is what this book goes into exploring.
If the ¡¥North Node¡¦ sounds a bit frightening or alien... don¡¦t worry. Jan Spiller goes into explaining what this is, and what it means in a way that is easy to grasp.
There is a chapter titled ¡¥How to Use This Book¡¦ that explains what the North Node is as well as overviewing some definitions that are used in the book that will help you get more out of reading it. This chapter also covers an explanation of the Nodal Axis, signs and houses, duplicate sign/house positions, and also opposing sign/house positions.
The rest of the book is divided into each of the twelve zodiac signs and the Nodal placement in them... e.g., North Node in Aries, North Node in Taurus, North Node in Gemini, etc. Each of these chapters is divided further into the following subheadings:
ľ Overview
ľ Personality
ľ Needs
ľ Relationships
ľ Goals
ľ Healing Theme Song
The information given for each nodal position is clear and detailed. You only need to know what sign your North Node is in to get a lot out of this book ¡V and you have everything you need to figure that out in the first few pages of ¡¥Astrology for the Soul. Those of you with a deeper knowledge of your birth chart (i.e., house position of your North Node) will get even more out of this book.
This is an excellent book for the beginner.
Rating: Summary: Very insightful book! Review: This book focuses on the Moon's Nodes from the point of view of reincarnation; however, you don't need to believe in reincarnation to benefit from this text. The author summarizes her extensive experience with many clients in interpreting their Nodes. Her delineations ring true and there is much of value in what she has to say. I found this book much more focused and detailed than her previous book called Spirtual Astrology (which was rather general and vague). It is well written and certainly well worth reading. She deals only with the house and sign placements of the Nodes and promises to publish another book on aspects involving the Nodes (which I hope she publishes soon).
Rating: Summary: This is the "guts" of spiritual astrology Review: This is my all-time favorite astrology book about my favorite piece of the chart: the Moon's Nodes, which have to do with karma and past lives, and indicate your most karmically appropriate direction in this lifetime. This book is enlightening on many levels and gives you a unique perspective on your soul's pattern that really helps everything make sense. Best of all, you don't even need to know how to read charts to understand this book. All the North Node placements are in a table in the front of the book. And if you do read charts, you can look up the Node's house placement by house as well as by sign, for more information. This gives you an idea of the soul's direction in the chart, and which energies benefit the person on this level.
