Summary: Recommended read for those interested in auras
Review: "Auras: See Them in Only 60 Seconds" provides an interesting way of seeing auras quickly. In summary the author's suggested technique is to look at the person in the same way that you would a stereogram. By focusing not on the person but on a point about eighteen inches past them you will see a faint aura surrounding the person. This does work but the technique brings on some questions. The reason a stereogram works is because it causes a mild cross-eyed effect. Since this same technique is used here I thought that I would see if it created an aura around other things besides people. Sure enough, I was able to see an "aura" around books, boxes, bricks, and just about anything else that I looked at this way. So, my first impression was that this is not a credible way to see an aura but just the normal result of crossing your eyes. On the other hand, I tried it several times and did find that I started to see tinges of various colors around people that were not there around inanimate objects. All inanimate objects continued to just have the gray "aura". The effects of crossing your eyes should not cause colors to appear that are not there in the object. So, maybe there is something to this after all.

The book is well written and easy to understand. The instructions are explained well enough that it is easy to follow the suggested process. The author details clearly what to expect and how to interpret various results. He also covers chakras, common auras for various occupations, how the various colors should be interpreted, etc. All in all this is an interesting book on auras and deserves a recommended read status for those who are interested in the subject.

Summary: Get this guy into the lab
Review: I can't describe how disappointed I am with this book. Most part of the book tells you about things you don't need to know. I find it a bit boring. The explaination of how to view Auras is on the last page, and the instructions is just 1 page. There is no way beginners will be able to see Auras in 60 seconds, unless ofcourse one is gifted (which is rare). What most books don't tell you is that you should train your physical peripheral vision. We all are accustomed to viewing certain things certain way, and this creates a type of block to relax and defocus the eyes. If one really practices this, within 1 week viewing Auras will not be a problem.

Summary: I have never seen an aura-until now
Review: I got dragged, literally to a book signing that I was sure would be a bore. My co-worker had read this book years ago, and wanted me to experience it for myself, knowing I would never read a book on such a wierd subject as auras. At first as the author was demonstrating this aura technique I couldn't see anything, but I wasn't really trying. THEN IT HIT ME! I could see the golden light that surrounds the head and shoulders get bigger as he did some breathing exercises. Then when he wrote down a color on a piece of paper and handed it to one of the members of the audience, I could see the color slowly (about half a minute) change to a greenish blue. When the lady held up the paper, "turquoise" was what was written. Many others in the group of about 50 said they saw it too. Needless to say this was one of the most mind blowing things I have ever seen.
I've since recommended this book to several people, and I just hope that he comes around again so I can try it again. I can see auras on some people, but the author really has a strong one, and seems to be able to control it as well. One Warning though, the colors don't look anywhere near as strong as on the cover. So don't go looking for that. But I definitly saw colors, and they change from person to person.

Summary: works for me
Review: I have seen auras for 20 years. It was painful to be so isolated and not be able to express what I saw to everyone else. I tried igoring them and only saw more. I thought I would share with you becasue of your intrest in this book my experince that over the years that clear band so many of you are able to finally tap into is the aura you were hoping to see. I don't know exactly why I see much more then that and people who write books to tell you why or what they mean are all misleading you becasue its only you who can answer those questions yourself within yourself. When you choose to look at that band or even if youre able to see the colors yourself, its the lesson youre getting thats for you to figure out, alot like your dreams, which no one can explain to you as you need to do the work yourself to understand them. I can tell you however that 20 years of seeing auras eventually led me to accept that i was psychic and a medium. I think that when i started seeing auras it was an opeing door to me to allow me to gradually accept many more gifts comming to me and it was so visual i couldn't run away from them. It took me that long, all those years to open myself up totally to the spirit world and really, the gifts in this world. Auras are extremely beautiful and unlike the colors we have here. They arn't as flat and make oyu very senstive to color on Earth. When I hear people saying "this color means this and that" its not really true. When we become aura readers the way colors are on the body and and the hues and shapes all are so infinate theres no one way that they can possibly mean anything that can be catagorized so easily. I found it amusing that the author added he'd seen Gerry Garcias aura as I saw it once while Gerry was dining with me. It was a white halo. I was shocked as I did not respect him very much, what I took from it was that it was a colection of the faith so many people had in Gerry and it actually made him blessed. All the people who admired Gerry as a "Saviour" healed Gerry on his soul-path in this lifetime. It was also shortly before Gerry passed.
All living things have auras. Cats are esp easy to view for some reason. Also auras are left on doorways people lean on and have layers from thier energies they left behind, also any sacred object esp ones where people pray alot. Furniture collects energy and places. The auras deplete over time... wear off objects if not used for long periods. Tree have auras! they are esp easy for new viewers. If you see that clear band youre doing well opening up please dont' become fustrated. What I learned was that folks who do not see auras do not need to see auars. those who do need to. All these things have a purpose in our lives. While its exciting to be able to see these pretty colors, after 20 years of seeing them plus shapes and thoughts and past lives within them i can assure you that becomeing a medium and becomeing clairaudent has by far surpassed anything I experinced in aura-reading. Now when I do a "reading" ( I work for free- i wasn't charged for seeing auras thus shouldnt' charge for telling people about them) I start out asking the person to "breath in white light thru thier nose and exhale thru their mouth the first color they see in thier heads or feel"
please try this five times. its important to uncross your body parts and get very comfertable. you need quiet for this. People who have expericed trust issues from life trama need practice. It may take a few times. When you breath in and out please use sound and allow yourself to make noisy lusty air breaths in and out so you can hear them. Do not hold naythign in or hold anythign back. The Color you see when you exhale is what you need to work on OK> you dont' have to see your aura to know this information. This will help you in your healing. For you to know what that color means ( it changes evey day sometimes stays the same over days or week depending how long you have to work thu it)- it wou;d be better growth for you spiritually to try to understand yourself on a deeper level, as this is where all healing comes from, ask yourself "what does this color really mean for me? how do I feel about this color?"
I know its easier to rely on outside sources for your information but it will always keep you distant from yourself if you place authority outside yourself for knowledge. These are the things I have learned as a healer and aura reader. The still small voices you hear in your head speaking to you are by far more significant then your aura colors. Good luck blessing to you on your Journey in earth School.

Review: I really enjoyed reading the book. However, I still can't see auras so take it for what it's worth.

Summary: Not what I expected
Review: I was looking for a book, which would allow me to see auras for myself. Unfortunately, this book disappointed me. It only has one short exercise (and it's in the attachment), and doesn't really give you much to practice. The whole book is all about how the author met different famous people, and what their auras are like.

I eventually found a book on auras by Ted Andrews "How to see and read human aura", which gave excellent exercises, lots of helpful and practical advice, explained difficulties that you may have to face, how to deal with them, and other "special effects" you may see (e.g. differences between aura and afterimage etc.) To those who really want to see auras for themselves I would recommend this book by Ted Andrews (it worked for me, after a week of practicing, I started seeing auras!!)

If you want to entertain yourself and read about how auras look like, and author's personal experience with auras, and not particularly seeking to seriously learn how to see it yourself, go ahead and buy this book by Mark Smith. After all, if you are serious about learning something, you KNOW 60 seconds is never enough. I wish I thought about this when I bought this book.

Summary: Inadequate treatment of the subject matter
Review: I was quite disappointed with this book. As other reviewers have commented it is really just a book about the author's experience of aura viewing and not much info on anything else. Instructions for the reader to actually see auras are limited to a one-page appendix. Auras are such a vast and interesting subject and this book doesn't do that justice. It's really just a basic introduction for people who are only mildly interested in learning about auras. If you're really hungry to learn may I suggest something like "Hands of Light" by Barbara Brennan which goes really in-depth into the subject. And as someone who has bought quite a few "aura books", I'd also recommend that you buy one that contains excercises which will actually prime your vision for aura viewing. EVERYONE is capable of seeing auras so get practising and enjoy the journey!

Summary: Lots of fun and enlightening too!
Review: With so much seriousness in the world today, it was a real pleasure to read a book written with so much ease and good nature. I liked the author's way of "de-mystifying" the whole subject of meta-psychics. He makes a point of starting from a disbeliver's viewpoint, and I find his writing style very engaging. It is almost done in journalistic approach, very personal, and self effacing. What he has accomplished is no small matter. You don't have to be a Tibetan monk, or an Indian shaman, or have studied in an ashram to learn how to see auras. The exercises couldn't be more direct and the technique for viewing the aura is so simple, I am amazed no one has written a "how-to" book like this before. I come from a part of the world that accepts the aura as real. Kirlian was Russian after all. Although I read the book in English, I have found a translation in my native language when I went back home recently, and have come to find out it is quite popular there. It deserves to be popular, and I recommend it for style as well as content.
