Rating: Summary: The Mystic Christ Review: A timely book not only for the Christian world, but for all to read, assimilate, and apply in one's daily life. Simply because, as Mr. Walker meticulously points out from his extensive research, Jesus teachings and His life was an exquisitely beautiful example of unconditional Love and Compassion fully manifested in a human form. Love and Compassion are Universal. These Truths are "Self evident" and are found in every religious and mystical texts throughout every culture from time immemorial. And as Mr. Walker clearly articulates throughout this book, its that Love and Compassion we as humanity urgently need. A mentor of mine once said: Peace on Earth will be powerful, when power on Earth will be Peaceful. Presently, as in the past, the "power" that grips this planet is the power of the Ego. In this juggernaut of a book, Mr. Walker clearly makes the case that its the Ego and its ugly, ruthless manifestations of pride, fear, greed, lust, jealously, and fundamentalist thinking, (to name a few) that we as individuals and humanity as a whole need to eliminate if we truly want to grow and evolve. As Mr. Walker's mentor, who is quoted upon throughout this book - the Holy Mother "Ammachi", is fond of saying: Come quickly darling children, you who are of the Divine Essence of OM, come grow to be adorable. Jesus taught us to be innocent as a little child. As I read this book I sensed an undeniable beauty and grace flowing from its pages and as I finished I finally understood what Jesus meant by being innocent as a child. My sincere gratitude to the author for the creation of this book. May it inspire, give hope, and heal all those fortunate enough to read and cherish and live its message of Divine Love and Compassion. Here's an idea....with the Christmas season approaching, this book could make an ideal Christmas gift.

Rating: Summary: This is the Christianity that appeals to all religions Review: If you are a librarian, and a recipe fanatic, and a street corner preacher, then you will love this book. It is at times condescending, and individualistic while trying to maintain universalness by quoting 2 main sources, that of Ammachi, and Jesus Christ. The subtle implications are obvious. That is that Ammachi is Christ and that a LOT of what we all thoought WAS Christianity is now proven false. This book, while rich with cross referenced quotes from 2 great masters, lacks personal experience with it's main topic....Love. Instead, EXTREME emphasis is given toward intellectual perfection, scrutiny, and judgement. Nothing in this book even remotely resembles the fresh creativity of an evolved soul, but rather reassembled pieces of history delivered in a self-justifying manner. This is microwave spiritually and the food is yesterday's leftovers. Mr. Walker seems utterly afraid to put his "personal" stamp, in the form of new insight, or create a genuine "feeling" of living the knowledge. In the end you will be left dizzy, feeling intellectually impotent, and struggling to connect very simple points and suggestions because they are worded from an intellect not a heart. If there is any humor it is reared in the ugly form of sarcasm. Abosulutely no respect to time period or uniqueness is given. This is what is so surprising given the fact that Ammachi hails herself as a "unique" master saying often that we should stop trying to label Her. Sadly the greatest truth about the two scriptures that are compared is that they have "many" meanings and one truth behind it. Somehow the beauty of each is diluted by forcing the concepts into eachother instead of allowing them to be their own purpose. On the up-side, unless you are a lifetime Christian scholar, you are going to find out something about Christianity that you didn't know before, I'd just make darn sure you do your OWN research before quoting such a slanted source. Better yet, have your OWN experience too. And better better yet, write about it because we are many beings one truth! Some people like just milk, others like chocolate milk, and others like juice because it's sweet. I'm not sure what happens when you put the juice in the chocolate milk, though.... What would have been a much richer approach and beneficial also, would be to reveal exactly HOW those teachings created Ethan's own personal mystical journey. As his #1 son, I can say that the real treasure of his writing is still kept from the readers. As his life is abound with various experiences and insights on a personal level, hopefully future releases won't be so shy to hide behind other's quotes. Instead the naked beauty of his own inner worlds might be created, showing something new, something more miraculous to behold, the fruits of the seeds of these two masters perhaps?*6/20/04 I am changing my review to 3 stars to keep consistent with other Amazon reviews on other books. I personally feel that 1 star wasn't really accurate or representative of the work in context with other similar Amazon books. Although others (many close friends) have given the book 5 stars, I feel that 3 stars represents accurately what both the author accomplished, and is capable of, based on my years living with Ethan as his son in his "octagonashram" in Oklahoma.
Rating: Summary: The True Message Of Jesus About Non-Duality Review: The author provides substantiated research and a higher conscious awareness about the esoteric message of Christ. Like the distant rumble of thunder the concept of non-duality is heralding flashes of higher spiritual insight into non-duality which acts as a catalyst sparking a realilzation of the universal nucelus of truth within all religions. With quotes from Buddha, Krishna, the Gnostic Gospels, the Jewish Kabbalah and more sources, the author is advancing an awareness for fostering religious tolerance and world peace. Read this noteworthy book and the entire concept of non-duality will peel away the layers of myth, and the root truth will become clear.
Rating: Summary: Finally. . . Review: The grace and wit with which Mr. Walker writes would be welcome, regardless of the subject. However, as a Buddhist I must say that there are very (VERY) few volumes of Christian literature that have actually deepened my appreciation of not only the mystic aspects of Christianity, but Christianity as a whole as much as The Mystic Christ. This book is informative, without being preachy. It is witty, without being sarcastic. And it is honest, without prosyletizing. I own a small gift shop in a small-ish Oklahoma town, and we go through about a dozen copies a month. It is possibly our best selling single volume. Thank you, Mr. Walker, for your insightful and interesting product.
Rating: Summary: The Mystic Christ Review: The Mystic Christ is simply the best book on Mystic Christianity that I have ever read. I can ask no more of a book, than to change the way I perceive or experience life, "The Mystic Christ" has done both. The Mystic Christ is written in a very easy to read verbiage while it discusses some very weighty matters. Reading the book not only changed the way I think, but actually made me re-think my behaviors and how I interact with others in my personal day to day life. This book offers a plethora of lessons on wisdom, love and compassion. I wish that I could share this book with the world. I plan on giving this book out as Christmas presents this year. It literally a gospel, filled with Good News, and I would feel ashamed if I did not share it with all those that I love. You will not be disappointed in any sense by purchasing this book.
Rating: Summary: the return of Christ Review: This is a wonderful book. Read it if you want an understanding of the life of Jesus that's free of the dogma that is the typical Christian church and can open your heart and mind to all the world. This and other signs of the spiritual rebirth in the world, including the spread of other spiritual paths, the use of entheogens, and dare I say it, the use of the internet to connect all people of the world is part of the second coming of Christ.
Rating: Summary: The Mystic Christ Review: This is an excellent study of the teachings of Jesus Christ in a very readable and enjoyable book. The author, Ethan Walker III, offers lucid explanations of what Christ really said in a way that reveal the mystic wonders inherent in the sayings and lessons of this divinely inpired messenger. He includes many comparisons with other great spiritual leaders including Krishna, Buddha, Mohammed, and contemporary leader, Ammachi (Holy Mother), as well as with the Kabbalah teachings of Judaism. With clarity of insight and a good sense of humour, he shows the foibles of western culture's interpretations of Christ's teachings, through the ages, and how much of the depth of meaning has been lost through literalism, over-simplification, and mistranslation. The true message Christ, that of following the path of unity and love, is illuminated in discussions of "the Kingdom of Heaven" as here today, salvation and resurrection as spiritual awakening, forgiveness, and many other topics. This is a very helpful book for people of all faiths or non faith in gaining knowledge and understanding of the principles of Jesus, his disciples, and other great spiritual leaders.
