Summary: My first spell book
Review: Hello all! :o) I just purchased this little book on New Years Day. For starters I love the cover and the old feel and look it has to it. I also love the simplicity of Gillian Kemp spell writing. I have been dabbling and reading spell books since I was 16 (24 now) and this has got to be one of the best. I must admit when I first became interested in using spells I was ignorant to how they work so the books I brought and spells I used never worked because I didn't understand what I was doing. Not that it is a hard thing to do. The most significant thing in doing spell work is to stay focused on what u want from the spell at the time your doing it, put all your energy into and most importantly believe that it WILL work! I tried my first spell "To get a Lover to Call" on January 2nd. About 30 mins after I did the spell he called! I was so shocked! LOL And the spell is so so simple. I was going to type it on here but I think its only fair if you go and purchase the book. Worst case scenario it doesn't work and you can return the book. I seriously doubt that you will though!

PS Feel free to email me (goodjob79@yahoo.com) regarding any information that you may have on spell work and any questions that you have about the book or spell work in general. I also learned the best way to master doing spells is from communicating with others who are also very interested. Take Care!

Summary: Fun little book
Review: I bought this little book on a whim and it's one of my favorites in my collection. Though, I bought it at full price, which I thought was a little high... I really liked the Romany lore and the folk type spells. It's just a neat little book. The difference between the Romany path and the Wiccan path, is the 3-fold rule. Romanies don't wait for karma to deal w/any problems (or problem people), they do it themselves, so that is definitely something to remember when working spells that can manipulate another. Just remember what goes around comes around.

Summary: Attractive, Entertaining, Informative Romany Spell Book
Review: I initially bought this book because of its visual appeal. It's simply beautifully put together--filled with lovely images. Its charming mixture of handwriting and typed text lends a casual, almost notebook-type feel to it.

Once I got into it, I found that it's written in the same charming, casual, but informative style. (It's not as common as one might think for an object to live up to its appearance. This one does it with aplomb.) There are tons of wonderful, easy-to-perform spells here to delight, entertain, and possibly help you.

Kemp clearly has a deep appreciation for Romany culture and their predilections for magic. She delves into their history briefly in her introduction to the book, but not extensively. If there was any real problem I found with the text, it was that. Her "teaser" introduction left me wanting more!

Still, I think it was more than appropriate for the scope of her book, so did not use my slight disappointment as a qualification in my rating. I think it's a wonderfully attractive book with definite appeal to any enthusiast of magic or the culture of the Romanies.

Personally, I thought it was facinating to discover how many of these spells and superstitions persist to the present day among a wide variety of people. I recognized several things within the book from experiences in my own family, as well as from those of my friends and acquaintences. It might well be worth investigating for anyone interested in the origins of some of these common actions and superstitions that we, accustomed to them, take for granted.

Summary: A Must Have
Review: If you are looking for simple, positive, happy spells this book is a must have. No need to comb the edges of the world for hard to find ingredients. You will find most items in your own home or after a quick trip to the local store.

Old-world style spells and lore written in journal/diary type format. The pages are illustrated with pretty but simple items such as flowers and stamps.

Spells for friends, family, luck, love success and pets. A refreshing turn from the current "get even" trend.

Too early to tell if these spells really work but the read will make you smile.

Summary: My first spell book
Review: It indeed is a very attractive book and I am absolutely enamoured by it (it being my 1st book on spells). The spells are extremely positive and easy to perform. Reading through the little tips here and there made me look at the positive side of life.

Summary: Very Cute
Review: It was such a cute book. The spells are very generic, but the appearance of this book is what I was drawn to. It's got that `just off the old mage's shelf' look.

Summary: Full of great spells and charms
Review: The Good Spell Book is an adorable book that will charm you for years. While most of the spells are whimsy/love spells, they are given in an informative, useful manner. Gilliam Kemp could teach us all a bit about saving Granny's recipie, trying and testing the spells we create, and fine tuning our view of the world ;)

Summary: A Must for the Library and the Coffee Table
Review: This beautiful little book with its fabric cover, ribbon bookmark and antiqued pages will look beautiful on your coffee table or nightstand - and contains valuable information as well. The classic spells, drawn from folklore, are indeed "real" and have great magical value. Wonderful as a gift for anyone with an interest or open-minded appreciation of the art, and a nice "starter" Book of Shadows for the new witchlet. One of those tiny treasures you'll come to cherish.

Summary: Charming
Review: This is an absolute must have for any Wiccan. The spells are simple and effective (I am speaking from experience.) I've studied Wicca for about three years now and I will always cherish this book!
