Rating: Summary: A Life-Changing Book Review: "Ask and It Is Given" is a book that has truly changed my life. The gentle humor and "laws" that are presented by Abraham are of such simplicity and truth, that I can't help but feel that I have come home to the real truth about life. I immediately felt a sense of joy and relief when reading about the "Law of Attraction" and "Law of Allowing" - for me it meant that, at last, there is a guidebook for life that makes sense - and it is all based on "reaching for the next best feeling."
The numerous exercises in the last section of the book are wonderful. I chose a few that sounded like fun to me, and they have become a mainstay of my morning waking time. They give me the focus and direction to indeed create my own joyful day - each day, every day.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ventured as far as to read these reviews - for indeed, you have been guided here by an inner spirit that dearly wants you to understand the "rules" so that you may begin to live joyously.
Rating: Summary: Freedom, Growth and Joy Review: "Ask and It Is Given," The Teachings of Abraham, by Esther and Jerry Hicks, does what authors like Dyer, Chopra, Walsch, et al have been trying to do for years - only much better. This book gives clear, easy to understand, practical ideas that will truly change your life for the better. The teachings are profound - and while the general concepts can be found in other books, there are nuances in "Ask and It is Given" that make huge differences.
As a person who has read much in the field of new thought, I was amazed at how much I learned from this book that had escaped me through all of my other studies. And yet, I have given many copies of this book to people who have never been exposed to these concepts before and they were able to grasp them easily. Those who are long-time Abraham fans will especially love the way this book is put together.
Anyone who is seeking self-realization will enjoy this book and want to tell all their friends about it, because it is really two books in one. The first half outlines the general ideas necessary to understand what it takes to achieve personal transformation. The second half is a series of exercises that guide the reader through his or her own personal transformation. These exercises are set up so that, wherever one is on their vibrational scale, from depression to joy, there is an appropriate exercise for that moment in his or her life.
If freedom, growth and joy are what you want in your life experience, than this is a must read. I predict that this book will be on the New York Times Bestseller List for years to come.

Rating: Summary: As ridiculous as it gets Review: I did everything I could to try to stick with this book based upon the glowing recommendations from other readers posted on this site. The authors' premises are so contrived as to be little less than "New Age Lite." The first one hundred or so pages of the book represent constant repetition of relatively few themes. The book itself could have been boiled down into a couple of paragraphs stating something like "if you think positively, the chances of realizing your dream is enhanced." Duh...no kidding. Where have I heard that before? Skip this one and spend your time on something more intellectually challenging.
Rating: Summary: The best yet Review: I love this book. It has great activities to get you in the flow of creating what you want. It has worked for me when I do it. I'm trying every day to be a little better at manifesting what I most want.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE This Book! Review: I've followed the teachings of Abraham for a few years now online and I've always enjoyed them. This book is the absolute BEST! I've read it completely through once and I'm re-reading chapters again and again - their 'processes' are so helpful!
Rating: Summary: Questions Before Asking? Review: In contemplating ideas from the book, I have a few questions about desires, where they come from, when they are to be followed. If you've read this book, and have answers to these questions, please let me know...
1. Should desires always be followed?
2. If not, how does a person rightly evaluate their own desires? 3. That is, are there things, which I want which I shouldn't want?
4. What if a person has every desire of their heart, but still has no happiness, no peace, and no joy?
5. Does that mean happiness is not found in our desires?
6. Or does it mean there's something more - beyond our desire for our own happiness which we are designed for?
7. Do bad things ever happen to good people?
8. If so, were those things attracted by the person?
9. Let's say a 14-year-old girl comes down with Leukemia, should she try to figure out what she did to attract the disease?
10. If not and her plight can be attributed to something else then what is that?
11. If God exists, and I experience blessing in my life, can I attribute those good things to Him, or must I attribute them to myself?
12. Were we designed to live for something other than our self? It seems so.
13. I've found there's an emptiness in my pursuing what I want so I can get what I want and have what I want. Is that possible?
14. How can I re-orient my desires outwardly towards others, love, God, self-giving, self-sacrifice, and encouragement?
Rating: Summary: GET IT - TODAY! Review: Like some people here, this was my first book I read from Esther and Jerry (never heard of them before). I actually bought it only because anything Wayne Dyer touches I have to read. What a book? I've read these concepts that they present here from numerous other very well known authors. But never before have I been so impacted! I don't know what it is, but this book is definitely one in it's own category. Presented in the most loving yet direct way I've ever seen. Even though some people may be uncomfortable with what's in here, you will be left with clear and ruthlessly honest answers. And the excercises in Part 2 are not only fun but practical and realistic. All I can say is it's only been a couple of weeks since I finished my first round of reading it, but my world is already beginnig to rock with changes. Probably because I'm doing those exercises. Thumbs up to my new favourite authors!!
Rating: Summary: Mark 11: 22-24 Review: The book is an expansion on the truth expressed by Jesus in Mark 11: 22-24. "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." I read about 15 pages of the book in a bookstore, and walked away. As I did, I was struck by a powerful recollection of once-upon-a-time being happy. On the strength of that experience, I bought the book. I have given 4 copies to friends and family. This book is actually a description of how reality works for everyone, and how one can channel ones thoughts positively to stop actively "preventing" what you truly do want to happen. You are the wisher, and the allower; the universe (God, All-that-is, Reality) is the do-er. You wish, God grants the wish, you allow its receipt in your life. The problem for many: they don't allow the receipt, because they hold thoughts opposite to their wishes. (I'd love to have that car BUT IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE. I'd love to be in Europe, BUT my job prevents me. Book has been a great reminder to me that my life is my creation. (And I have work to do!)
Rating: Summary: Great work with clear explanation of how to attract Review: This book is good in the sense that it focuses entirely on the process of manifesting and attracting your desires.
Some critics will put a low grade on such books because they do not agree with how we can use spirituality to create the things we desire. However as Abraham and other authors such as Ernest Holmes will explain, there is nothing but Spirit! The material(solid) world is a total manifestation of the Spirit(thought energy). And we all come to become human to create with joy.
I think the most important concepts that it delivers (that other authors do not) is that by being happy emotionally, we make our vibrations higher and attract better things. Abraham also discusses about our beliefs, emotional states, thoughts, etc. There are many other techniques in this book that you will find wonderfully simple and useful.
Rating: Summary: You owe this book to yourself Review: This book is possibly the best purchase I have EVER made for itself.
No stranger to the concept of manifestation (and I have had some amazing manifestation results in the past), I have read many other books about manifestation over the years and even get a daily note from "The Universe" which reminds me that "Thoughts become things".
Despite my familiarity with the topic, this wonderful book had an unusual impact on me.
I was filled with profound joy and an intense feeling of being unconditionally loved as I read this book. Abraham seemed to be speaking directly to me. And since first delving into this book, I have been filled with a strong sense of "well-being", despite having just come out of the WORST year of my life (job loss, 4 hurricanes and the death of my beloved father.)
I love the 22 practical excersises provided in the book and am eagerly trying one or two that address my current place on the emotional scale. If you think you've read enough on the topic -- don't hesitate, this book will be a welcome addition to your library.
