Summary: a beginning reference for name analysis
Review: First of all, let me address the criticisms of not being able to find your unusual name- The book would be too large to lift! After reading through the basic correspondences of letters & symbols, hop online & get some more keywords and correspondences for each discipline. This book got me interested in the various alphabets & started me on an enjoyable quest for MORE! I used the basic techniques to develop my own analysis for gifts for all my friends. Some keywords to search for: astrology, numerology, runes, qabalah, Tree of Life, Acrophonology.

Summary: Good coffee table book
Review: I found this at a discount store and scanned it for names of friends and relatives. It has enough names if you do not have some hybrid name. However there is no depth. How did the information presented come about? How can you extend this to the names not in the book etc?

Summary: Right on Target!
Review: I had debated getting this book for so long, but I had a little extra cash in my pocket and decided what the heck. It is so right on target with so many people I know! I don't understand the people who say that they don't know how the book arrived at its information or that they didn't see thier name. In the first part of the book (that would be the part before the definitions of the names!) they explain why they used kabbalah, runes, and numerology and how you can use these tools to decode other names not included in the book. There are charts and worksheets to help you out. Great fun reading!

Summary: Intriguing and Accurate, Couldn't put it down!
Review: My first surprise was that my name, with my spelling, showed in this book! That was a first for me. The next surprise was how accurate it was! Not just for me, but for just about everyone who I showed it to. Very interesting reading and lots of fun with a group of people. I was also interested to see how direct negative statements were avoided and what a positive tone was maintained. A great read. Also interesting for parents about to pick baby names.

Summary: Right on Target!
Review: My friends and I stumbled over this book at a bookstore. After poring over it for an hour, we decided we had to have it for our library (we're all librarians.)

When the book arrived, everyone made copies of names because they were so on-target for personality traits, etc. It was actually kind of eerie. Also, we found name roots for more unusual names and alternate spellings, etc. to be pretty comprehensive.

I plan on using this book to complement traditional baby-name books. I think it would be a great gift for parents-to-be, and it is a wonderful party-coffee table book.

Summary: Bomn it out
Review: Okay, I couldn't find my name in here, and there wasn't any other alternatives. So, if your name is Miles - or something close to that, don't expect anything. The accuracy was disappointing for the most part. I have to believe that these profiles fit for a lot of people, but I would put a little caption at the bottom of the screen saying, "for entertainment purposes only" just for those with my such luck. It is a pretty fun entertainment idea if you know some people who aren't ADHD.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: The name interpretations in this book are fascinating; I particularly enjoy the Hebrew translations. This book led me to learn more about the meanings of the Hebrew letters. There is great wisdom and truth here. This is the best name reference book I have come across. You won't be disappointed with this purchase!

Summary: This was the most insightful book on a persons name.
Review: This book was very interesting and hard to put down. It describes the hidden power of your first name as determined by the wisdom of the Kabbalah, the Runes, and Numerology. The first thing you will do is turn to the profile of your name. After researching your name, then you'll want to see the profiles of your family and friends names.

Kabbalah is the mystical philosophy of the Jewish religion that traces it origins to biblical times. According to kabbalists, an analysis of your name based on the numerical values of the letters composing that name will yield significant insight into your personality and deeper spiritual traits.

The Runic translation uses the Elder Futhark or Germanic Futhark alphabet. Once translated, they general patterns in the translation are used to determine any strong influences or general patterns of the person's life. The Runic translation also is closely associated to the elements of earth, air, fire, and water.

The science of numerology reduces the letters of the name into a single-digit number. Once reduced to a single-digit, you can begin working with the meanings of the numbers to arrive at a character analysis of the name. The meaning of the name uses the whole-name value, the vowel value, the consonant value, and the first-letter value.

Using these three methods to determine the meaning of a name is very insightful to the person that this name belongs to. There are very specific points that are amazingly correct. If the name is not one of the many contained in the book, then they also let you know how to determine the correct translation to get the meaning of the name.

Summary: Fascinating! Great for parties and get-togethers
Review: This is one of the best books to have around to stimulate conversation - everybody wants to know what their name means! The historical origins are especially interesting, and having three interpretations (Kaballah, Runes and Numerology) is just as fascinating, since they offer DIFFERENT insights. The interpretations often complement and confirm each other, but other aspects that might not be obvious in one form show up in another, giving a very well-rounded view of each name. Not satisfied with just that? Here's a fun tip: Look up your MIDDLE name too - the two combined give an even more accurate picture! This would have been much better if the book also included a basic guide for determining the signifigance of names that weren't included, since there are so many others out there. Still, you'll find yourself looking up friends, relatives, even old boy/girl-friends and chums from school to see if what you remember about them matches! A great book!
