Summary: Didn't realize until reading this book that .....
Review: I didn't realize until reading this book that I know the author. I loved the fact that the author is my age, and similar in that we are both men in our 40s and HIV POZ, and we both are living with AIDS. I love the fact that Joel writes about his coming to terms with his disease and his mortality, and more important used this find his own spirtuality and God. Very moving, I'm proud to say I have met Joel in my journey in life, and thank him for giving me the inspiraiton to write my own story. Joel, you've inspired me!

Summary: It IS a Book For All
Review: I have read books by all of the authors who gave Joel's book a rave revue. The fact that these well-established writers saw a great significance in Joel's story, peaked my interest in buying the book. Once I began to read his incredibly touching story, I found out why it was given such high praise. I couldn't put the book down until I reached the very last page. Because of the usual skepticism, it isn't often that a person would share their moments of divine intervention: miracles. This is a story about a number of miracles that the writer experienced through the passing of a friend. The writing is honest, heartfelt, courageous, and compelling. I highly recommend this book to ANYONE looking to believe that life is much more than what we experience on earth.

Summary: Signals: An Inspiring Story of Life After Life
Review: In July of 1999 while I was working as Neale Donald Walsch's Personal/Executive Assistant, a letter came across my desk from Joel Rothschild, author of SIGNALS and one of the longest living AIDS survivors on the planet. It was a very humble letter, asking for nothing, other than for Neale to view his manuscript and possibly give Joel an endorsement for the book, which was already scheduled for publication by New World Library. As it is with authors, such as Neale, whose every waking day is filled with requests for everything imaginable from people all over the world, there is a warm place in their hearts for fellow writers, knowing the courage it takes to write the things dearest to their souls. After having read Joel's letter, Neale handed me Joel's letter and said, "Contact this man and ask him to please send me his manuscript." I e-mailed Joel that very day, and received a nearly instant reply, telling me what a difference it made in his day to hear from me. He was having a difficult day, battling an AIDS related virus. My seemingly small e-mail made a HUGE impact on his day, soon to be life. He did send the manuscript, however, I was not able to review it for several weeks. I kept telling myself that I was going to set aside all of the other 100 plus tasks that were waiting for and receiving my attention and just read his manuscript. Neale and Nancy were on a tour of lectures and it was part of my job to read the manuscripts, give Neale my review and then allow him to look at them when time permitted him to do so. One afternoon in late August, I set all other tasks aside, took the book outside along with the cordless phone and started to read. Almost instantly I was in tears and had chills at various times throughout reading. I couldn't believe it when a few hours had passed and I realized the sun was setting. Feeling a bit hungry and ready for dinner, I took the manuscript with me, and stopping at a restaurant, continued to read. Again, I read with tears and chills, accompanied by a warmth in my heart for a man that I had only e-mailed a couple of times. To share this incredible story and the intimate details of some of the people that he has loved the most in this lifetime took such courage. Needless to say, the next morning the book accompanied me to the gym, and as I walked on the treadmill, I couldn't believe that I was walking, reading, and crying. As I was reading, I was amazed at some of the synchronicities in my life - hummingbirds, the song "The Wind Beneath My Wings", and a little heart printed on a blank piece of paper. These will all make sense while you are reading the book. I e-mailed Joel, once again, and told him he wouldn't believe the synchronicities, and I then said, "Yes, of course you will!" Neale and Nancy returned from their tour and while catching up on things, I told Neale that I had read Joel's manuscript and told him what I thought about it. They were about to leave for a tour of Korea and Europe, so Neale asked me to put the manuscript in with his luggage so that he could look at it when he had a chance. By this time, Joel and I were talking on the phone, knowing of our soul connection - reunited like long-lost comrades. Not only did Neale choose to endorse "Signals", Neale asked Joel if he could write the foreward (another incredible "synchronicity" as you will see in the book, proving our connectedness, the "oneness" that we all are.) I was honored to be one of the first to have read SIGNALS, and even more so to come to know the man who so willingly and lovingly shares such a very personal story. Guaranteed tears and chills. And that's a GOOD thing!

Summary: I DO KNOW THIS IS A LIFE CHANGING BOOK TO READ
Review: In the book Signals by Joel Rothschild the author believes that he receives signals from his best friend who has just taken his own life. Both men are infected with the HIV virus. Each have a enormous fear of dying and to comfort themselves and other close friends they all make a promise to the other that whomever dies first will signal the others from the after life to let them know it is real. Each signal that Joel feels he received from Albert resembled something special that he and his friend had shared before Albert's death. Each signal could or could not be from the departed friend, Albert. Each signal has a explanation here from the coined "real world". Something that could not be explained as easily is how he knew things about other people's loved ones that have passed. A humming bird showing up in a garden that has many cats may be unusual, but not at all impossible. Is it possible that it showed up that day during the eulogy? This incident along with many others could be mere coincidence.
Joel Rothschild could in fact be a messenger for the dead to the living. Or he could have researched the peoples past in some sick cruel joke to tell them descriptions of their loved ones in order to rope them in and make them believe he was talking to Albert through signs from the after life. All the signals in the book are circumstantial evidence that can be passed off and explained away very easy by the skeptic and nonbelievers. The author does present his case in a very sincere manner and he does not in any way force his readers to believe what he is saying. He himself admits that he comes into skepticism, at times, about the very words that he is writing on the pages. The book gives a message of hope and meaning with or with out the signals being real. It helps everyday people feel better and feel that there is hope and reason for why everything happens as it does. It gives hope of the after life and a life that goes well after death. Life here is only a mere start according to the author. Is the claim of Joel Rothschild a logical and sound one, no , it has holes in every corner. A rational person could shoot down everything he says with logic and nothing more. Does that mean it is not true, no person will know what he can and can't do. If I used the critical thinking skills that I have been taught, I would dismiss this case as invalid in a moment. The evidence is unsound, the claim is unsound, and there is no way to make solid evidence or claims from this information. Maybe the love and promise did help his friend to connect from death. It cant be proven, ever, period. It is my own belief that unsound doesn't always mean that it is a wrong conclusion, even if critical thinkers would teach me to think and say otherwise. I want to believe what is in this book for my own hope and my own heart. That doesn't mean it is a true story, it just means I hope so.

Summary: A Beautiful, Amazing Tribute to Love
Review: Joel Rothschild's book, Signals, is one AMAZING and AWESOME book. This book will change your life and profoundly affect how you think about life after death. Joel wrote this book after the passing of his much beloved friend, Albert, by suicide. The depth of their relationship was indeed one of soul mates. The love, passion, compassion, faith, and trust that are expressed in this story will consume you. The caring, kindness, and the wisdom that was and still is lived on a daily basis will leave you crying. Once you start reading this book, you won't be able to put it down!

The soul connection experienced by Joel and Albert transcended death, as Albert "contacted" Joel constantly. This beautiful story proves that love endures, that there is nothing more important than love. Both of them had made an agreement to contact the other one after the first one had died. From beyond, Albert expressed so eloquently to Joel, "Know that each and every moment of life matters and that they are the same in many ways. Ways you have not yet seen. The good, the bad, the healthy days, the sick ones, happy, sad, bored, or thrilled - they are the same. With each and every breath, and in every moment of life, you are working things out, things that are connected to something far greater. You are part of something much bigger. We are all part of this larger purpose. Those kind people and those cruel people all have a purpose you can't possibly understand right now. Each and every person matters, and each and every moment matters. The painful ones included. We are all one." Albert's soothing words gave Joel the impetus to fight his disease, to find the peace he was searching for and to finally live in acceptance.

Joel's incredible strength and determination helped him to surmount all of the "odds" given to him by his doctors on his impending death from AIDS in 1990. Albert helped them both to conquer fear and doubt by their faith in the belief "that this is not our path." The path was NOT one of dying and suffering, but of living. AIDS also gave Joel the opportunity to learn about forgiveness - forgiveness of others, but more importantly, forgiveness of one's self. Dr. Cohen helped Joel "see" by explaining to him that without forgiveness, we can keep the hurts inside "where they will fester and cause disease, or we can make the conscious choice to let go of them for our own sake." By letting go, Joel was able to bring restored health to his AIDS racked body. I applaud him on his extraordinary inner resolve and strength as well as on his openness for forgiveness and change. Joel is truly an inspiration to those of us trying to conquer our own challenges that life presents us. My tears of sorrow, turned to tears of joy for Joel.

With Joel's continued "signaling" from Albert, he began to find that he was psychically beginning to receive messages from other souls that had passed, to be relayed to his friends or even spontaneously to people that he would happen to meet. These episodes were fascinating to read and they indeed brought great comfort to those who had lost a loved one.

I found this book to be a beautiful tribute to the love that we share in our intimate relationships, as well as to those in our family, and in our circle of friends. I found Joel to be such a strong, loving, warm, caring and considerate person, and I felt that I knew him as one of my friends - I just wanted to hug him! The lessons imparted in this book will gently nudge you to accept and to change- to let go. I will leave you with this most wondrous quote from Joel, "There will be pain and suffering for all of us. We have a choice in how we perceive it. There will be moments of joy and laughter and love. It seems wise to look upon the pleasant moments of life during the trying times. It seems our best choice of perception. Everything in life will pass. No trouble will last forever. Perhaps it is the indescribable thing we call love that paves our way. I cannot imagine this journey without it." Thank you Joel.

Summary: An Inspiring Story of Life AFTER Life But Not OF Life
Review: Joel Rothschild's moving account of the signs from his beloved companion Albert after his death reaffirm the beliefs of those of us who feel strongly that there is indeed life after death. Of course our loved ones signal us; we have only to know this, and be aware of what to look for. However, I was disappointed in two things with SIGNALS: AN INSPIRING STORY OF LIFE AFTER LIFE. One was its length (165 pages): I felt like perhaps this should have been offered as a two-part article in a well-respected magazine, rather than as a full-blown, hardcover offering. Secondly, I was disappointed to not be told more of Mr. Rothschild's own life. I believe that a book which chronicles his struggle with AIDS would be inspiring in and of itself, and I, for one, would feel privileged to read it.

Summary: SIGNALS Will Open Doors to the Miraculous
Review: The flow of life is an orchestrated miracle, and SIGNALS helps us to see and understand the messages of love which the universe personally sends to each one of us. More than a book of hope, more than a story of healing, SIGNALS gives us the beautiful life-affirming gift of being able to actually see the messages of love for ourselves. A quick and easy read, and yet SIGNALS is one of the most important and powerful books I have ever read. Whether you already believe in life after death or simply wish to know that there is more to life, this book will truly be an eye-opener. SIGNALS has changed my life forever. Joel Rothschild's book has given me insights and understanding, as well as new ways of seeing endless gifts of love and life which can only increase. Miracles abound, and SIGNALS is truly a miracle in itself.

Summary: Tremendious story and credible, evidence of life after death
Review: This book is very simple and reads very fast. It doesn't offer any revolutionising proofs of what spirituality is about, but it touches the heart gently and lovingly. It breeds compassion, joy and hope. Read it and let Albert speak to you and guide you along your path for a little while. You'll know what I mean and you'll be glad you did.
