Rating: Summary: Heart Wrenching Review: A great writer, Peart conveys bawdy flirtation and titillating suspense in this Civil War romance. The insufferable Garnet suffers. And oh, how she suffers! Her blind love for Malcolm Montrose wreaks havoc for Malcolm's bride Rose Montrose--and then, Garnet is severely punished. Poor Rose dies and Garnet dreams of a life with Malcolm-- Only, he returns home years later, with a new bride! I had to laugh over that. But, I had to pity Rose, since her ruthless rival outlives her!
Rating: Summary: Read the original Review: I could not wait to put this book down!!! I think the author got mixed up and just turned Gone With the Wind in to her editor. The plot is very similar and so are the names. As I was reading this book, I found myself wanting to read Gone With the Wind so I could get the facts straight. Just pass this one up and go with the original.
Rating: Summary: Good reading, good romance, and a history lesson as well. Review: The first half tells the anguish of differences between the North and the South before the Civil War. The second half tells the actual horrors and how the Southern families coped. Excellent characterization! A very, very well done story
Rating: Summary: book freak-Excellent!!!!!! Review: This book was Stupendous! It had a great history lesson too. It is great for anyone who loves the show "Gone With The Wind", which to me this book has a great similarity in characters to that story too.
