Summary: A great summer read
Review: I havn't quiet finished this book yet, cause I'm savoring it. But I had to give my review now so folks could enjoy this book as much as I am. Its charming and delightful. The author discusses the relationship she has developed with a real Leprechaun. Now normally, I would enjoy this type of story but give it no validity beyond fiction. But surprising, this author seems to have really experienced this. The information she recieves from her new found friends is metaphysically advanced, refreshingly new information, and feels true on a deep level. I can't wait to find out what happens next. It's a great story as well. Enjoy. Many thanks to the author, I hope your reading this. I BELIEVE YOU!

Summary: Magickal..simply Magickal
Review: Once I got into this book, I could not put it down. Thank you Ms. Helliwell for enriching my being in ways you will never know. Whether you take this as fiction or non-fiction or a combination between the two, reading this book will delight your senses and make you think twice about common, everyday occurances. A recommended read from a seasoned magickal reader!

Summary: An Enchanting Tale from the Imaginal Realm
Review: SUMMER WITH THE LEPRECHAUNS tells the story of how Tanis Helliwell met leprechauns while spending a summer in Ireland. If you understand that beings from the "imaginal realm" are real, then what would otherwise seem like complete fiction develops the rich hues and textures of multi-dimensional consciousness.

Much of SUMMER WITH THE LEPRECHAUNS consists of dialogue between Tanis and the leprechauns. One leprechaun in particular spends hour after hour describing the world of elementals, in order to improve communication between humans and elementals.

SUMMER WITH THE LEPRECHAUNS is a truly delightful book that will help you open your mind to new worlds and get you thinking about how magical this world really is!

Summary: Thank you Tannis , I rejoice with this book.
Review: This book brings joy to my being. I have always felt a special kinship with elementals. And they with me. This book will open your inner sight to the invisible creatures that share this planet with us. And it will bring laughter and recognition to your life. Ireland sounds devine.

Summary: Delightful
Review: This book has opened up a whole new world for me. The key to it's magic is "Believing is seeing". Both the story and information flow perfectly. The humor throughout made it a joy.

Summary: Truth in a strange package
Review: This is a very unusual book, written about a summer in Ireland the author spent ten years before and during her close encounters with leprechauns. It would be easy to dismiss a book with a title like this, but she starts out in her introduction talking of elementals, citing and referring to some of the best writers and collectors of faerie folklore.

I'll admit that I read the story with some reservation, but found myself highlighting the words relayed by the leprechauns and nodding my head in agreement again and again. According to this book, the leprechauns tell her that the "...central purpose of all elementals is to work with natural laws to create a world of beauty and diversity." The book is filled with things I know to be true, even if they are coming from experiences I believe few have had.

The author admits that there will be three types of readers of her book - first, those who believe leprechauns are merely folklore. For them, this book is a pleasant fairy tale. The second group, never having seen leprechauns or faeries, are convinced they exist. For them, this book provides insights and answers many questions. She mentions a third group as well - those who are called to work with nature and heal the Earth.

As you consider whether this is a book for you, I wanted to share some of the things she learned from the leprechauns. See what you think:

* "Our work is to create form, to see the pattern that is in nature and to encourage that pattern to develop. Elementals can see the pattern that is in individual humans and we can help grow you..."

* "The strength of the mind and the strength of the will are the keys to manifesting for all beings. Humans exist in a denser reality than elementals, so this is why you must work physically as well as with the mind to manifest what you would like."

* "The Peter Pan story is important to humans because it reminds them of a magical time when they could come into our world and play without limits and confinement...this is part of the human racial memory."

* "Humans send two conflicting messages to the universe. One is that I would like such and such. The other is that I don't think I can have it because I don't have enough money or education, or because Sean and Moire' have it. Because humans transmit these contradictory messages, they don't get what they want."

At the end of the book, the author has several interesting guides: 10 ways for humans to work with elementals, 10 ways for elementals to work with humans, Elemental guidelines for manifesting, and a recommended reading list, which covers many of the classic texts I recommend as well.

It's an interesting book, easy to read, entertaining, and basic in its understanding of faerie. I like it.

Summary: Enchanting
Review: This is fun if you read it with the attitude that it is a work of fiction. The author gives wonderfully vivid descriptions of Ireland and her people. Unfortunately, there were many times I found myself wondering if there was anyone out there who actually believed her story.

If you're interested in a visitor's view of a quiet vacation in a small Irish town, this would be a good book to read. If you're looking for information about working with nature spirits and elementals like I was, save your money. This is more like her personal journal, not a practical guide to the wee folk.

Summary: Kind of Hard to Believe.
Review: Well, it's a great book as fiction. I read this late last summer and thought it was cute, but it didn't change my preconceived notions that leprechauns simply don't exist.

When the author decides she will take a vacation to rediscover her Irish roots and take a break from everyday stress, we discover immediately that she has not had the best of mental health in the past, herself. Taking that into consideration might explain the commonplace descriptions of the leprechauns- as though she's been seeing them all her life.

Reading this would convince one that perhaps she HAS.

Tanis not only speaks to the family of leprechauns, but also the other spirits. She goes shopping with them, shares her cabin with all sorts of fantastic creatures a five-year-old would delight in reading about. As the book progresses, it just begins to irritate those of us who are "denser" than Ms,. Helliwell (I know not her current marital status). Because she's so willing to believe in the supernatural, she's therefore able to see and communicate with them.

According to her, the leprechauns have become her friends and still visit her periodically! They're the reason she's written this book. To tell us mortals (what does she believe herself to be?) that we should not eat lettuce because it screams when it's uprooted. (I swear to you, this is ACTUALLY in the book, mentioned several times.)

For what it's worth, the book is charming and quaint fiction. As a realistic look at the supernatural, it's simply not up to par. Read it if you'd like a refreshing work of fiction or a nice break from your typical gory Stephen King cold-blooded murder mystery. For something about the supernatural, keep looking. Even the most open-minded reader would find this exceedingly difficult to believe.
