Rating: Summary: A Very Fun Read Review: England does a great job putting together an end times scenario that isn't your typical "Rapture" scenario. Unlike alot of non-Catholic christian end times books he doesn't pick on anybody elses relgion. There is some good suspence and guess work that will keep you turning the pages. My only complaint about the book is that I wish it was a bit longer so that England could have developed things more. That doesn't take away from the book at all. I started reading it and didn't stop until I was done. Just couldn't put it down.

Rating: Summary: Take a Break Review: Everyone needs to take a short break from the world and this is the book for the job. England takes us through the end times in a easy style and quick pace that one is not sitting there for days. The book itself might make you wonder where England is taking you, but you will finally understand why he had to take you where he did.

Rating: Summary: Poorly Developed Plot and Characters Review: I bought this book after reading the reviews posted on this site. I feel inclined to be a bit harsh as I read every piece of Catholic fiction I can get my hands on. This book presents itself as a first draft that had been through spell check and rushed to print. The storyline was difficult to follow, seeming one irrelevent occurance happening after another until the "climax". The characters were so underdeveloped, it was impossible for me to care what was happening to him, let alone why. Also, parts were inaccurate, but I was lenient on that aspect as it is fiction. I continued to read until the end, expecting for the novel to be vindicated by an ending that would somehow tie everything together. Instead, I was left with the same feeling I had when I paid eight bucks to see the movie Unbreakable, frustrated that I had given up two hours of my life ( and if you read quickly, you can finish this book in about that time) that I can never reclaim. It is really too bad, since England's other work, Unicorn in the Sanctuary, is actually a great nonfiction reference book very useful in pointing out the evils of New Age philosophy and its infiltration into the Catholic Church and other Christian religions. England should stick to the latter form of writing, and stay away from fiction.
Rating: Summary: Good end-times story from a Catholic perspective Review: I've never been a fan of apocalyptic fiction because nine times out of ten the stories are told from either an evangelical or a Marian apparition perspective. Saying this, it is refreshing to read Randy's novel because it is biblical AND Catholic. The reader truly feels for Brendan as he struggles to keep the remnants of the Church faithful to Christ, and the author's views on abortion are strongly conveyed throughout the story. I only wish the story had been longer.
Rating: Summary: Plan before Reading! Review: OK -- here's a warning for you from my own experience... Don't start reading this book late in the evening, like before going to bed. You'll be up late finishing it. I read the book in one sitting. It's a very easy read and very entertaining as well as being true to the faith.Mr. England has produced a good book in every sense of the word 'good'. The characters are very likeable (though I'd have liked more characterization -- would have probably kept me up for a few days though, so I'm not complaining). If you're looking for a good read, pick this one up and try it out. I'm looking forward to Mr. England's next outing into fiction.
