Summary: loved it!
Review: a friend recommended this book to me and i loved it from the beginning. i then recommened it to my book club. many loved it and a few really didn't, however we still talk about birdie and margaret 2 years later. so even if you don't like the book, you will never forget it! i love reading all jamie turner's books since she keeps them all generally in the same location and you get to "see" friends from other books that you have already read! if you have read this one once, read it again! it gets better every time!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Don't judge this one by it's cover
Review: Finally, a Christian author who isn't afraid to deal with real life with real people going through real struggles! I have read all of Turner's books, and I must say that every time, I was shocked (in a good way) to see the situations that the characters have to deal with. The kinds of things that Turner delves into are the sorts of things that you would normally only hear as a prayer request in church and then forget about soon thereafter. But, I won't ever forget this book and the truth and insight that it presents.

Summary: This is my review
Review: I base my liking for Christian fiction a great deal on whether or not one of the characters inspires me to emulate them. At the end of this book, I wanted to be just like Birdie. In real life, I am more like Margaret- a little reclusive and very bookish, but I would very much like to be a person who loves others as Birdie did. This is a good story and very worthwhile for character building.

Summary: A real tear-jerker
Review: I don't think I'll ever forget reading this book or the lessons I learned. There are two main characters, Margaret and Birdie, whose paths cross over a period of nine months or so. Such a short time, but the friendship that grew out of Birdie's persistent show of Christian love and patience for bitter, angry Margaret would touch many lives besides their own. Written from Margaret's point of view, looking back over those nine months with periods from even further in her past interspersed, you really get a sense of the dryness and deadness of Margaret's spirit. I don't think I've ever read such a well-written and thoughtful story. There are many literary references sprinkled throughout, but they are so essential to understanding the true nature of Margaret's personality that I don't think the story would have been the same without them.

Summary: Complex, inspiring, unconventional.. a definate must-read!
Review: I just finished reading this novel today, and must say that it is one of the most realistic stories of the power of a friend's love that I have ever read. The main character is a sweet 50 yr old lady named Birdie who through lifestyle evangelism and genuine love wins the heart of the narrator, Margaret. Margaret's life is forever changed by the small kindnesses of Birdie, and it is a real testimony to each of us who profess Christ as Lord to really take Jesus' commandment to heart. "Love one another as I have loved you." It is also a story of healing, though not in a way you might expect.

I must warn you that the book is a little more difficult to read at first because the author writes in a very classical, descriptive, yet unconventional style, but avid readers like myself will love it in the end. (One person commented that "this author breaks all the rules of writing fiction -- with amazing results". I agree!)

Anyways...it was a great book so go borrow it from your church library or buy it here at Amazon.com!

Summary: It changed my life!
Review: I read this book two years ago and the characters still haunt me. I've never had a fiction book move me the way this book did. This story goes much deeper than the special love of a friend. This is a story about two people who have suffered, as most of us do. It's a lesson about what to do with pain. The comparison between Birdie and Margaret and the result of their suffering was an eye-opener. It's a great book from a great writer. It's the first time I've ever written an author to thank her for the book. I've often been disappointed with Christian fiction. Not this time! I even bought two more copies to give away.

Summary: Permeates the heart
Review: I was given this book and put off reading it because the cover was so delicate. I was expecting a light Christian romance. You certainly cannot judge a book by its cover. I, too, was profoundly changed by this story. Margaret's reaction to the losses and abuses in her life is one of isolation and cynicism. She keeps others at a distance with a superior attitude and cruel words. As I read, I often cringed at her words, calling to mind people I have known who behaved in like manner and wondering what secret hurts they harbor. It was painful to watch her mistreat Birdie, but inspiring to watch Birdie perservere. I was also fascinated with Margaret's often referring to books she had read. Although some reviewers found this distracting, it showed me that fictional characters in books were more palatable to her than her husband or her flesh-and-blood co-workers. This is the best work of Christian fiction I have ever read.

Summary: An Inspirational Masterpiece!
Review: I was so moved by this book! SOME WILDFLOWER IN MY HEART is a wonderful illustration of the power that the pure expression of Christian love can have in the lives of those around us. The main characters--Margaret and Birdie--are so believable; their story of friendship is inspiring. The author also addresses the part of human existence that is difficult for all of us to understand--suffering. By recognizing that suffering is a part of human existence, Margaret is able to tear down the wall she has built around herself piece by piece. On the other side of that wall, she discovers her own capacity for love and compassion. I have recommended this book to all of my friends and have given it to a few of the most influential people in my life. If you are looking for a book that will inspire you in your attempt to walk the Chirstian walk, this is a book for you.

Summary: Permeates the heart
Review: Stunning, compelling, life-changing ... the best work of fiction I've read, including the classics. This is far above most Christian fiction in every way. From the first page, each word was printed on my mind effortlessly. If I could reach my goal of someday writing a Christian novel, this would be my model. I have given this book as a gift to some special Christian friends. The other books in the series, "By the Light of a Thousand Stars" and "Suncatchers" do not disappoint.
