Summary: An AWESOME book
Review: As mentioned in another review this is Magnus. Magnus is now out of print and renamed. Get this book while you can! It is my FAVORITE book! It is interesting, thrilling and doesn't have lulls. I've read this book over and over and I still love it!

Summary: Look out Lewis....
Review: Everyone claims Chronicles of Narnia, and Lord of the Rings are classics. And they are right in their claim. My confusion comes in trying to understand why this book has not been raised to that level. It has all the imaginative creative writing of those. It certainly has the spiritual overtones. Mystery, suspence, romance, human struggle, death, and though all this there is something. You read, you sense it, and you read more. Then it hits you. GOD! (to borrow from a popluar chef) BAM! You see God's handiwork. Like the poem footprints you don't see it was God all along until the end. WOW. Why can't I pick 10 stars!

Summary: A gripping swashbuckler - with flaws
Review: From almost the first page, Sigmund Brouwer weaves together a taut, mysterious swashbuckler with characters that you actually care about. The pacing is nearly perfect - a constant stream of revelations, twists, and hair-raising escapes make this book a "page-turner" in every sense of the word. If you're looking for an easy read set in the world of knights and chivalry, I don't think you can find a book much better than this.
That said, this book seems to have a number of very blatant flaws, especially regarding the history. The overarching conflict of the book seems a bit to massive and secretive for belief. More problematic, the characters act and think in a way that would be impossible in the Middle Ages. For example, while the Catholic Church was considered the Body of Christ, it seems very unlikely that characters would spontaneously develop a modern Protestant theology, even starting their prayers with "Dear father" - completely ignoring the fact that many of their statements could easily be considered heresy and punished as such. However, for the reader who is able to put historical errors aside and enjoy the adventure, Wings of Dawn makes a truly enjoyable trip through a strange, treacherous land.

Summary: The best book ever written! No kidding!
Review: I love this book! It's a must read. Brower does really good with the description, there's not too much to make it boring, but enough to give a really good feel of what everything is like.I think I would recommend this book to everyone. Even if you don't believe in God this is still a really good book, for those of you who do believe in God it makes the book all the better. there's a little bit of everything in here: romance, death, suspense, adventure, science, and a lot of fun (there's many words to descrie this book, but I had limited time to write it out.)Absolutely GREAT book!

Summary: Sigmund Brouwer is a totally awesome writer!!!!!!!
Review: I read this series at least twenty times. I enjoy it sooo much. I wish that Mr. Brouwer writes more after the eighth book (not included in this book along with the seventh). I find the plot simply mysterious and enchanting. I will love this book always. I'm a nanny and I have read this book aloud to the kids and they adore it. I have given it to my friends to read and they all love it as well. My kids ARE GOING TO READ THIS BOOK TOO! Another series that goes along well with these books are the lost years of Merlin and these are by T.A. Baron. Check them out too!

Summary: It was okay, but it couldn't hold my attention.
Review: I stalled out right before chapter 33 after several attempts to read this book. Many of the things Magnus did up to that point were over-the-top unbelievable to me, much like a medieval MacGuyver. Also, this book is a reprint of Magnus, but you wouldn't know that until you bought the book then looked at the publication page. That information should be stated on the outside of the book somewhere so that owners of the original book will know this and not waste their money. I don't know the publisher or author's intention, but I just thought that was cheesy.
I didn't think the story was bad, but it just did not capture my imagination the first few times I tried to read it, so I gave it just an "okay" three rating, as the actual writing was okay. Maybe I'll try to read it again one day. If MacGuyver-style stories are your thing, you may love it.

Summary: Very Enjoyable Book
Review: The book was given to my 10 year old son by another 10 year old. He read it and said it was great but it is NOT a children's book. The plot was deep, involved and very good. On the positive side it showed the virtues of logic and compassion as there was very little killing in an era when most books are very bloody. It was a book where good wins over evil and compassion over hate and learning over ignorance. It is a book I would like all of my children to read as they could learn a lot from it's strong moral foundation.
