Rating: Summary: Not exactly what I thought it would be.... Review: I am writing this review because this book is good for anyone trying to find out the ancient ways of ritual even the wording is in the ancient way. The only thing I think this book would had been better if they had done both ancient to modern way of talking. I sure would like to see a book using ancient ways and put in modern day thought so I can understand them more.
Rating: Summary: *What I think...~ Review: I have always been wanting to be an Egyptologist since I was in the first grade, and this book even now teaches me more of the mysterious facts about ancient Egypt. I recommend it to any one who is eager to learn about the truth behind Egyptian spritual lifestyle and this is one to add to an Egyptologist's or anyone studying Egypt's library. It is something to satisfy a realist or philosipher's mind, so you should definitely get it no matter what kind of person you are becuase all the people i knew who purchased this book were extrememly impressed.
Rating: Summary: It's clear-cut and concise. Review: I really liked the book because it's all old Sabbat rites and a nice listing of gods at the back. It is a little cold, however, and could have more warmth, therefore. However, it does it's job as having 8 seasonal rites. That's all it has. Great symbolism, but they were written 4000 years ago by people who knew what their religion was about. Today, one can only guess. I'm sure the ancient people knew how to make it more personable. It's worth buying if you just like Egyptian legends and mythic text that are steeped in code, and impossible to figure out, and very hard to understand, and rather cold, like the stone pyramids.

Rating: Summary: was the author really adept? Review: okey, i ordered this book, because i just wanted to have some guidelines for my own rituals. but, i found so many annoying and wrong things, so that's why i'm now writing this review! first of all, the text was so unready...it is a shame that someone doesn't want to write complete texts, but this is the worst what i've ever seen! second, this book seems to be ment to a small group. that is sometimes ok, it is challenging to create solitary rites from them, but this time it was harder, thanks to the confusing texts. this book have a little to do with traditional kemetic beliefs...it was created to the pagans, with wiccan elements and elemental set-ups. kemetic calendar is different, and the rites in this book are ment to celebrate wiccan calendar, what was disturbing in my mind. ancient kemetic people didn't celebrate 8 sabbats in a year like witches or wiccans do. the book didn't have any hymns or invocations, which is sad: hymns are most beautiful part of the worshipping and honoring the deities. but what really made me angry and what made me to hate most of the texts; too man/god-centered thinking and writing style.
Rating: Summary: interesting Review: This is a very interesting book and contains a great deal of code/metaphor. It only includes mainly sabbat rites, but the text can help you to work with or "become" the god-forms, though, you'd need additional references for that. It is much code, and the rites look flat unless you add the meanings/mental-concepts they can represent. I love more general philosophy, which this didn't have, but if you're interested in ancient texts, and their metaphors, it's worth looking at. If you translate the images presented (deities and their tools, symbology, and add the skill of visualizations you can make up and do, etc.) into meaning for your own mind and life (as you would with dreams) and psyche (in other words, more like psychology), it will be much more helpful. Like life, and any book, it's what you make of it, and you'll get what you want to, and what you put into it (what you set up for yourself). Most Pagan and occult material is really a guide to help you know your self more (hint). This book is good for what it IS trying to do, and not for all the topics and accomplisments it isn't trying to present, very specifically. Light to you...
