Summary: You can change the way you see the world
Review: Do you want the truth? Can you handle the truth?
From what appears to be a cycle of chaos and destruction on our planet resulting in thousands of deaths, why do we slip back into our daily routines and hardly question the reason behind all the suffering? Why do we not find out what is causing it? When we are hit with the overwhelming question's of "Why am I here?" "Who made us?" and "Are we alone?" it seems everyone at some point in their lives, especially as children, have asked themselves at least one of these question's. These questions have encouraged many of us to go on a "treasure hunt," if you will, to seek the truth. We, as a nation, are very skeptical but if we all would stop receding from these very hard to fathom question's what would be the result then? Through our searches we come upon many interesting theory's as to why we exist, but none of these avenues have given us the sensation of having any form of validity. Until we can find the one thing that will, or until we can be led to it, we will continue to go down this path. For all those people who have been touched by acts of terror, or the ones who have had a craving for the truth, there is a way to change the path of destruction. And we must do so before more lives are needlessly destroyed by the acts of evil. We should not put our search for the answer off any longer. We must make this our goal in life. The only science on earth that studies our feelings and desires, and how we are influenced through our surroundings, including the entire universe, can be found through the invaluable antient material coming from the most authentic source in the whole world, through the Wisdom of Kabbalah. If you want the truth you can have it! This book, The Hidden Wisdom of Kabbalah, is a way to take your first step to finding out how you can change our world as we know it.

Summary: Misleading
Review: Having been intrigued by studies of the Kabbalah, and enjoying such enlightening works such as POWER OF KABBALAH and A WISH CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE, I wanted to continue my research into this topic by reading Laitman's well-reviewed "Guide" to the Kabbalah.

While the jacket states that the book provides the reader with "a solid foundation for understanding" and "the content is designed to allow individuals all over the world to begin traversing..." I found this book not much of a "guide" at all.

The book's stark, bleak tone tirelessly outlines the structure of the Kabbalah, provides study guides and wisdom, moves onto droning historical commentary, then proceeds to lapse into a language so severely technical and esoteric, perhaps only rabbis with the highest level of scholarly discourse on this subject can appreciate the book's ideas and enjoy them for what they're worth. The book sells itself as a guide, but I felt as if I was a student just out of basic math, plunged into seminars on astro physics and superstring and expected to comprehend.

Joylessly written, the book's halting pedantic tone warns readers to ignore all other writings on this topic but its own (and maybe a few other master works), but offers no passion, and no particularly unique insights. It gets caught up in redundancies and facts. The book arrogantly acknowledges its own technicalities, but urges readers to keep going, obnoxiously assuring readers that they may not comprehend all that they read, but that it doesn't matter. What a turn off.

What I enjoyed so much about other books I read on this subject, was the clever stylistic ways the writers presented their material: well-researched, passionate, and unafraid of humor. They took risks in their writing, genuinely trying to connect to an audience. The whole point of the Kabbalah is that it be made accessible to the masses; that all who wish should be granted its wisdom and enlightenment. The quickest way to view the Kabbalah as an elitist amalgamation of diluted nonsense is to pick up this dusty old textbook.

Summary: Finally!! All the real answers!!
Review: Quote from the introduction:
"Man has always been looking for answers to the basic questions of life: Who am I? What is the purpose of my being here? Why does the world exist? Do we continue to exist after our physical being has completed its tasks? In this world of constant pressure, some find temporary satisfaction in Eastern techniques, measures aimed at relaxation, or reducing suffering by minimizing personal expectations and desires. Various forms of meditation, nutrition, and physical and mental exercise quiet man's natural instincts and enable him to feel more comfortable from the point of view of his physical state. This process teaches him to lower his expectations, yet leaves him in conflict with his true desires. Our life experience teaches us that we have unlimited desires but limited resources to satisfy them. This is the reason there is no way to completely avoid suffering. That is the subject of Kabbalah.

Kabbalah answers the basic questions of life. The essential questions of man's being add another dimension to human suffering. They do not allow us to feel satisfied even when this or that goal has been fulfilled. When one attains the goal he is striving for, he immediately feels he's missing yet another pleasure. This prevents him from enjoying his achievements, and his suffering is renewed. In retrospect, he sees that he has spent most of his time making an effort to achieve his goals, and has gained very little pleasure from success itself. Everyone, each in his own way, tries to answer these questions from the sources of information at his disposal. Each one of us formulates our own perception of the world based on our experience. Reality and everyday life constantly put this perception to the test, making us react, improve, or otherwise change it. With some of us, this process occurs on a conscious level; with others it happens unconsciously.

Kabbalah reaches out to all those who are seeking awareness. It teaches you how to add an essential feeling of the spiritual sphere - the sixth sense - that will affect your life in this world. This will allow you to perceive the upper world and gain control of your life."

Summary: Complex, intriguing, sophisticated, authentic
Review: Rav Laitman is arguably the most relevant Kabbalist of our time, a student of Baruch Ashlag, the son of Rav Yehuda Ashlag, who everyone agrees was the greatest Kabbalist of the 20th century. This book gets very technical in certain areas, but repeatedly reminds the reader that s/he need not instantly understand all of the information intellectually. He stresses that it is more important to make the effort to read the material and be open to learning in your heart rather than your head.

Summary: Must be read and experienced. The best Kabbalah book!!!
Review: The mind is like parachute works when it is open. What can be said about the life and the soul? Do we live or we just have sensation of living? What I have discovered here is that the life without connecting with your soul is not fulfilling and unsatisfactory. The book extends the foundation of Kabbalah to offer the practical fundamental steps on fulfilling this goal. If you are like myself want to discover the complete reality and live with the connection with your soul, this book will not open your mind but will put you on the road of the soul discovery and life worth living.

Summary: A guide to the Hidden Wisdom of Kabbalah
Review: There's a tremendous amount of a very wise and searching approach
to Kabbalah compressed in this book. If you somehow only glanced at
the title and said, "Oh, another title in kabbalah ......" and passed on by, you will have missed an opportunity to connect not
only with knowledge about wisdom, however you think of it, but with the deeper parts of yourself -- your soul, your potentials.
Rabbi Laitman opens up the issue of Kabbalah as a science,
which requires study and honesty with one's self,-- and a wilingness to "think outside of the box".
Kabbalah as taught here in a way asks you
to remain engaged in your surroundings or do what's required in this very physical world. It
is not a book that focusses on any kind of technique -- the
study is to help one understand and increase one's desire for
Greater Reality, desire for what is needed to move all of humanity towards its ultimate goal and fulfillment. I have found
this book both user-friednly, clear, but with a challenge to
heart and mind that invigorates. I highly recommend it!
