Rating: Summary: Holy Spirit living Review: Bill Bright has written a book that is truly inspirational. Bill Bright writes about how to give the Holy Spirit the freedom to move and work in your life. This book is about taking self off the throne of your life and giving the Holy Spirit the control to do what He wants in your life. Filled with Scripture, you'll want to read this book again and again.
Rating: Summary: Read this book, your Bible and enjoy the adventure! Review: I have purchased many copies of this book (The Holy Spirit; The Key to Supernatural Living) and at the direction of the Holy Spirit given them to people that God has directed me to give. I use this book in my ministry. One night I received a call from a ministry worker to tell me that a family member wanted to take his life. I ask God what to do and I received instruction to read something from this book. I opened the book to page 146 and read "A BALANCED LIFE", we prayed together and God had me minister to the person, receiving the Holy Spirit. The person received the Holy Spirt with evidence of other tongues on the telephone! He lives today. God is so good! Thank You Jesus!!!
Rating: Summary: like seeing through a glass darkly Review: one could wade through this entire book (charts/diagrams/theories/anecdotes/oh-my-God/blah blah blah/on & on he goes/where he'll stop/nobody knows ... ) & still walk away not knowing just exactly what it is that you NEED to complete your christian life: the baptism of the Holy Spirit! it's all really simple. there are two baptisms: 1) baptism by water (repentance, or john the baptist's baptism), & 2) baptism by fire (Holy Spirit, or Jesus's baptism). water & fire. that's it. water symbolizes what happens to you when you believe (cleansing, purifying) & fire symbolizes what happens to you when you surrender (power of God flowing through you).it doesn't take an entire book full of charts, diagrams & anecdotes to get this point across. (thankfully, bill bright is doing a better job now of getting his point across by collaborating on some fine fiction books that incorporate his theological ideas, e.g. Blessed Child & A Child Of The King.) i tried to read this book, but ended up just skimming it, because it was, quite frankly, boring me to tears -- & nowhere could i find this simple truth spelled out: you NEED the baptism of the Holy Spirit! being cleansed is great, but your spiritual life will be dead in the water without the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit! which, granted, is the thesis of this book, but nowhere does bright explicitly spell out what you're supposed to DO to get it: pray man, pray! ASK God to fill you with His Holy Spirit & be OPEN to the results. in other words, be prepared to speak in tongues, dream dreams, see visions, heal the sick, raise the dead ... & if that seems scary to you, then you're not ready (& WHY aren't you ready? do you think God is going to HURT you?! good grief man, get a grip. He loves you! He's not going to hurt you.) & that's where the surrender part comes in. you have to be ready, willing & able to hand the reins of your life over to Him.
