Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Clear And Useful Review: The title of R.A. Torrey's book suggest something along the lines of a Charasmatic experience, involving speaking in tongues and emotional hype. But he suprises the reader with a thoughtful look at how the Holy Spirit should opperate in the lives of true Christians. There are certain gifts that men are born with, and many lay dorment until the Holy Spirit awakens them. This book challenges people to awaken their God given gifts (all good gifts are from God and given even to those who are not Christians). Whether it is leadership (rom 12:8), teaching (Rom 12:7), craftsmanship (Exodus 31:2), or other gifts, we must let the Holy Spirit mold them to their optimum. Kudo's to the author for an insightful and inspiring work. Although I disagree with the title, and would prefer the term "Being Filled With the Spirit (Eph 5:15-18 and Acts 4:24-31)"
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Avoiding the Charismatic Trend Review: This book is an easy read and a good tool to see the simple teaching of the Bible concerning the need for the power of God in evangelism. The only thing is some might be led to think that the power of God has to do with our unbiblically, misinformed Charismatic friends.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Clear and simple, yet so powerful Review: Torrey's "The Baptism with the Holy Spirit" is straight-forward, easy to read (and it doesn't take long to read it either), clear and exciting. Taken from Scripture, the book offers life-changing truths that no christian can do without. If you desire to experience the abundant life promised by Jesus; if you're hungry for God and willing to give everything to Him and receive everything He desires to give you, or if you want to understand and/or receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, I highly recommend this book.
