Rating: Summary: Excellent Translation Review: This book contains the New Testament and Psalms in Tagalog, produced by the Philippine Bible Society, a member of the worldwide United Bible Societies. Remarkably, this Protestant-produced work contains an imprimatur from Jaime Cardinal Sin, the Catholic Archbishop of Manila. I think this is great. The fact that the publishers asked for an imprimatur and the fact that the Archbishop gave it says good things for both publishers and Archbishop. We need to see more of this kind of cooperation in the world! The rendering of the New Testament in Tagalog is very carefully executed. The translators did an excellent job. Readers familiar with the Good News bible will find this as the Tagalog equivalent. The Psalms are an added bonus. I was so impressed that the translators not only rendered the original into Tagalog, they also went the extra length to make sure the verses rhyme. In other words, they translated the Psalms' verses into poetry, which is just the right thing to do. Overall a highly-recommended book. I hope this books sells a million copies.
