Rating: Summary: This book is awesome!!! Review: I bought this book over a year ago and read through it really quickly. I was so encouraged by Ms. Courtney's stories, advice, and honesty that I made all of my single girlfriends read it too. I'm pretty sure they all enjoyed it. When I got it back from the last one this spring I read it again and got even more out of it. The thing that makes this book stand out is the way in which Ms. Courtney does not beat around the bush and is very honest about the pain and disappointment that often comes with singleness. But she is also clear in reminding us that marriage is not the end of all pain and disappointment! I think so often single people see marriage as the answer to everything but Courtney is quick to point out that this is not the case, instead the answer is God. Another reason I like this book is the fact that it is not a "how-to" guide on hooking a man. The book is about being single and leading a single life and all the stuff that goes along with that. I'd been getting disappointed with many Christian single books because they were how-to guides and I felt like none of them fit my situation. I would definitely recommend this book to any single person and even to married people who may work with a lot of single people just to get insight on their situation. I hope Courtney comes out with another book soon...I can't wait to read it!
Rating: Summary: This book is wonderful! Review: Table for One is a great book for single young women. I am in my 20's and single and sometimes I would rather be married. However in reading this book and throughout many of my life experiences I have learned that my life starts now, and not just if or when I get married. Ms. Courtney's writings are funny, clear, and practical advice for any single Christian woman. I recommend buying this book and then lending it out to all of your single girlfriends who need a boost of self esteem. It may help them to learn to live their lives to the fullest right now!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Feel-Good Book for Single Women Everywhere! Review: Wow! This book is probably the best book written for singles that I have ever read! It is not one of those oh-you're single-let's-go-and-find-a-mate kind of books. With impeccable humor and blunt honesty, the author gives practical advice on dealing with the single life, in various areas of life. She does not give any false hope, but instead encourages singles to face up to the grim possibility that they might be alone for a long time or maybe even forever. After reading this book, I felt empowered to live my single life the best way I can instead of obsessing about why I don't even have a boyfriend. The author has opened my eyes to the incredible advantages and opportunities of single life that I will never have again if I get married someday. One caution, though, is if one is not a conservative Christian like the author is, some of the things she discusses would not have any relevance to a reader's life. Overall an excellent book. Whether you're 22, 33, or 46, and a single woman, I say, GET THE BOOK!
