Summary: (granted, i haven't read this book...)
Review: Granted, I have not read this book, but doesn't the fact that somebody had to compile a encyclopedia of archaic words in modern usage seem to contradict their argument that it's not archaic? And just because the words are still used today doesn't mean the text actually flows well with our modern conceptions of grammar and readability. But whatever the case, God is big enough that He can work around any translation issues - is better that someone reads an NASB or NIV, or no Bible at all?

Review: i really haven't read this book either; in fact, i needed my mom to read it to me because i'm not only illogical, but i'm also illiterate as well. but i can sure form an opinion; i got loads of 'em. and i'd like you to spend the next few minutes reading my worthless opinion of this book, 'cuz one lame review is as good as another. now, let's try to make some sense of life and the universe: if i haven't read the book, why should i be qualified to offer a review of the book? but i read the title, and a title is worth ten thousand words; in fact, you can tell a book by it's cover, and this book title tells me alot, as it did for many of you. so please, opinions are like armpits - we've all got 'em; won't you take the time to share yours with us too?!

Review: Many people find that the KJV Bible is too hard to understand because the language is considered to be "old fashioned".

Mr Vance has taken all of the words which are considered to be "outdated" and compiled them into a form of encyclopaedia.

This book should be put on your "MUST HAVE" list, if you are a avid reader of the KJV Bible. It will not only enhance your bible study but it will also give you better understanding of the LORD's word.

Summary: Recommended Reading
Review: This book is another great work in defence of the Bible against the attacks from modern defenders of corrupt versions. This book not only defines many archaic words, but also shows some modern secular usage as well as usage of archaic words in corrupt bible versions. This shows how meaningless it is to stab at the Bible by saying that it is archaic. I have also read 2 other of Vance's books. I recommend any of his works.

Summary: Excellent book to further understand Gods Word.
Review: This is an excellent book for getting more out of God's word than the modern versions around today can give. Example the Thou's and Thee's are singular referring to one person or group. While the Yee's and You's are plural. The modern versions use the word 'you' for both. You lose...

You talk about Archaic Words. Take a look at a few I got out of the NIV which is supposed to me a Modern Version.

Abashed, annotations, cors, dissipation, fellowman, filigree, fomenting, goiim, ignoble, jowls, mainstay, marauders, pinions, porphyry, portent, profligate, qualm, resplendent, revening, squall, and wadi, just to name a few.

Why does the NIV use these Archaic Words? Because of Copyright Laws. New version have to be significantly different from others so a lot of trips to the Thesaurus is needed.

What does this all this lead to? A Bible that gets further and further away from the real Word of God which many believe the closest can be found in English in the King James Version.
