Review: I FOUND MY COPY OF THIS BOOK IN THE GARBAGE DURING A SPRING CLEAN UP PROGRAM RUN BY THE LOCAL COUNTY.I ACTUALLY ENJOYED THE BOOK FOR THE MOST PART AS IT CAN BE HELPFUL FOR SOME OF THOSE DIFFICLT WORDS YOU DON'T HEAR EVERY DAY.THE PROBLEM I HAD WITH THIS BOOK WERE THE COMMENTS HE MADE UP ABOUT JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES THROUGH OUT THE BOOK AS WELL AS UNDER THE HEADING OF J.W..I WAS BROUGHT UP AS A WITNESS UNTIL MY TWENTIES I HAVEN'T FOLLOWED ANY PARTICULAR RELIGION FOR THE PAST TWENTY YEARS,MUCH TO MY MOTHERS DISMAY.I ACTUALLY LAUGHED AT SOME OF HIS IDEAS ABOUT THE WITNESSES.HE OBVIOUSLY DID NOT RESEARCH THIS AREA OF HIS BOOK AND RELIED ON OLD WIVES TALES,BARROOM RUMORS AND BITTER GOSSIP BY THOSE WHO HAD LEFT THE ORGINIZATION OR WERE DISFELLOWSHIPED FOR NOT WANTING TO FOLLOW THE WORD OF GOD AND WERE BITTER AND FULL OF LIES.EITHER WAY REASERCH WAS GRAVELY OVERLOOKED HERE.AS I AM NO LONGER CONSIDERD A WITNESS THIS REVIEW WAS NOT SWAYED IN ANY WAY BY MY PAST.I JUST STILL LIKE TO READ ABOUT RELIGION AND GOD.OH AND BY THE WAY EVEN THOUGH I DON'T ATTEND THE MEETINGS OR GO PREACHING I HAVE NOT BEEN DISFELLOWSHIPED AS MOST PEOPLE ARE LEAD TO BELIVE FROM WASTED WORDS OF GOSSIP.

Summary: A Pastors perspective
Review: I have found this book by Terry L. Miethe to be very concise and accurate. While not completely exhaustive, Terry has given an unbiased look at various religious groups, cults and docternal positions. Many who find themselves in a particular sect, religiously speaking, may find themselves somewhat affended by the truth, the word of God tells us "The wounds of a friend are faithful", (Proverbs 27:6). Terry's intent is to educate not affend. I find this book an interesting resource for my study library as a quick reference for docternal topics and understanding.
