Summary: Making Progress
Review: Catholics have trailed far behind Protestants in authoring Bible commentaries, despite their claim to venerate both sacraments and Word. So the appearance of a layman-accessible commentary like this one is a welcome sight. Especially one where it is clear the author puts full credence in the inspiration and authority of the text. Let's hope this is first among many similar volumes.

Summary: A deeper look at the Gospel of John
Review: If you want to really dig deeply into the Gospel of John this book is for you. It has many notes including some from the church fathers, some historical, some theological, word studies and more. My only complaint,and it's a small one, is that the bible verses are not in the book. You have to read your bible then look up the comments, but thats not a big deal. This is a valuable resource for any catholic, and in my opinion probably the best catholic bible study out there. Stephen Ray has really done a great service for the ordinary catholic who wants to know the bible better.

Review: Our Parish has used Mr. Ray's guide for two trips through the Gospel according to St. John. It is an incredible resource for groups who have serious interest in Bible Study. (I would expect nothing less of an author than a 5-star rating for his work! This piece happens to actually deserve it.)
