Rating: Summary: Great study book, bad translation of the Bible Review: I did this study a few years ago when Tyndale published the NIV version of the study. So when I went looking for the next study to use in the Adult Bible Study class I teach at my church on Sundays, I thought of this one. After reading the NLT translators notes and the book of Romans in the NLT, I changed my plans and began to look for another study of Romans. I have serious concerns about the NLT and how it waters down and distorts the message of the Bible in an attempt to "reach the masses" of our society. In the end I couldn't find a better group study for Romans then the Life Applications Study so I purchased all the NIV version of this study Amazon.com had left and then an additional 20 copies of the NLT. I told my class to ignore the NLT translation of Romans in the study book and use the translation of the Bible they prefer for the scripture reading while referring to the Life Application notes in the study book.
Rating: Summary: A must use study guide for those on the go Review: I was very impressed with the style and ease of the guide. Wether a bible student or just wanting to know more about God's word, this study guide is perfect for anyone, especially those on the go. All the text from the NIV Life Application Bible is included so you don't have to carry around a Bible to use the guide. It's easy and convenient. The questions are well written and stimulate your thought to get you interactive with the text itself. The commentary is the best I've used and it's included right along with the text on each page. I think you will like this guide for self study or groups.
