Summary: Give Credit Where Credit is Due.
Review: ...

The Recovery Version New Testament is an excellent Bible. It is easy to read and understand. The extensive cross references, footnotes and outlines are invaluable for the reader who has an appetite for God's word. Not only do the footnotes serve to edify the believer and help them in their daily Christian walk, they are a valuable resource for teaching the word of God to others. I know of a couple of pastors who consult this particular version weekly in preparation for their sermons. Furthermore, I know of at least one church that uses the footnotes contained in this Bible for their weekly Bible studies. I have read this entire book with the footnotes. I can tell the reader/ perspective buyer that this is definitely a good book and a very good buy.

Summary: Life-changing study of the New Testament!
Review: I can share with all sincerity that this study of the New Testament has changed my life. The light, revelation, and truth contained in the footnotes are incomparable with any other study Bible I have read. This version has helped me to grow in my knowledge and experience of the Lord Jesus. It has also given me an understanding in seeing God's eternal economy, His plan to dispense Himself into His chosen people, and build them up in the one Body of Christ, eventually consummating in the holy city, the New Jerusalem. From the geneology of Jesus Christ in the opening pages of Matthew to the unveiling of the holy city, New Jerusalem, at the end, this version is loaded with spiritual nourishment. I would highly recommend it to any seeking Christian.

Summary: The best translation of the NT? Spoiled by the footnotes
Review: This is a reasonable enough translation of the NT; however the footnotes which are extensive and on average occupy more than 50% of each page contain some vitriolic references to denominational Christianity- in particular it states on p1247 (1991 edition) that "Catholicism and Protestantism" are "an organisation of Satan"--remarks that perhaps betray a more biased and extremist agenda. when this is appreciated it is easy to see in other places that translation and interpretation of scripture is skewed to fit in with this ideology. the footnotes are all by one man, and in the introduction he claims that this translation along with the notes TOGETHER represent the "crystallisation of the understanding of the divine revelation which the saints have attained to in the past 2000 years"- a very bold statement indeed! since this book contains much that contradicts biblical translation and interpretation of the past 2000 years -- i would urge caution & discernment to anyone considering approaching it. Many people have found this version helpful for their faith --indeed there are many edifying and encouraging footnotes as well; but these have to be viewed in the wider context of the sort of remarks quoted above for a truthful judgement to be reached on this book

Summary: Best Bible translation I have found so far!
Review: This is the best Bible translation I have ever read. The footnotes are excellent. I have been a Christian for many years and have had many different translations and study Bibles in four different languages. The recovery version is both a very accurate translation and provides remarkable commentaries to the text. The reader finds him/herself in love with the Christ found in the Word with the help of the footnotes and cross-references, which do not just provide background information but focus on the spiritual significance of the writings.
I recommend the Recovery Version to any lover of the Lord who is pursuing Him to gain Him.
