Rating: Summary: A detailed, objective look at eschatalogy Review: As part of my own ongoing research into the often controversial topic of Christian eschatalogy, I have found Before God's Wrath to be an excellent resource for examining and defending a literal interpretation of end times events. The author writes from a protestant, evangelical, pre-millenial perspective that assumes a literal interpretation of scripture where that interpretation is warranted by context. H.L. Nigro has presented a detailed and thorough understanding of what the Old Testament and New Testament authors taught regarding the return of our Lord. In addition, Nigro shows how those teachings align with Christ's own teachings about His return. Be forewarned. The conclusions that Negro reaches do not necessary concur with current popular conclusions regarding pre-millenial beliefs. But her conclusions are consistent with a literal interpretation of scripture and are very similiar to conclusions reached in other parts of orthodox Christemdom and other times of church history. This book is not light reading, but it also includes many practical conclusions about our attitude towards persecution, the end times, evangelism and graciously dealing with those who may disagree with our conclusions on eschatalogy. There is also a helpful question and answer section that contrasts her conclusions against the views of differing eschatalogical positions. I highly recommend this book and encourage any person who reads it to be prepared to prayerfully and carefully compare the authors conclusions to Scripture as they develop their own biblically-based convictions.
Rating: Summary: Clear Presentation of the Rapture Review: Before God's Wrath provides a clear, biblical presentation of the timing of the rapture of the church. H.L. Nigro writes in a straightforward style that is neither too lofty nor too simplistic. All relevant passages are examined and the author provides many biblical and logical arguments for the prewrath rapture position. Rather than being purely academic, this book also shows that a proper understanding of the return of Christ is a critical component in living a life of faith. As the End Times rapidly approach, I pray that Before God's Wrath will get a wide reading since it brings a message which is vital for the church today.
Rating: Summary: A thorough study Review: I found Nigro's book to be a thorough study on the end times as it relates to the rapture question. This book presents solid Biblical exegesis for the case that the Church will be removed before God's wrath is poured out on the earth, and clearly explains the Biblical concept of wrath. I can't recommend this book highly enough to those who are seeking for the truth about this controversial subject.
Rating: Summary: A perfect mixture of passion, logic, and scriptural truth Review: It's very hard to find a book about Christ's return that doesn't have major assumptions stated as fact on every page. There is no arrogance found here, and every disagreement the author has with other views is delivered with much grace. H.L Nigro's book is one of the few I have found on this subject that speaks of the heart issues concerning Christ's return/rapture. The rapture is shown to be more than a timing issue. Not only is there passage after passage quoted from the bible in this book for the reader to study on their own, I counted over 20 charts that helps one visualize the points H.L. Nigro is making! Unlike many end times books, the foundation of "Before God's Wrath" is not based upon two or three verses. "Before God's Wrath" is well worth your valuable time, and in my oppinion, a must read for the majority of the Church.
Rating: Summary: Learn what the Bible really says about the Rapture Review: ItÕs been said that when a book is properly written, the topic need not be addressed again for another ten years; this is such a book. For readers seriously wondering about the timing of the Second Coming of Christ and of the Rapture of His Church, this is a must-read book. It should put to rest once and for all the expectation that Christians will suddenly disappear from the planet without warning and before anything else has to happen on God's prophetic calendar. As this book makes clear, Christians will certainly be taken up to be with Christ at His return, but it will not be at an "any moment" time, as many contemporary popular teachers are saying it will. NigroÕs Òrevised and expanded editionÓ is truly that, much of it completely rewritten for added clarity and ease of reading, and containing new material that further supports the bookÕs thesis--that the Rapture will be during a time of great tribulation. Must Christians be prepared to face trials and persecution at the hands of the Antichrist? Is there biblical evidence to answer this question? Is it important for Christians (as well as non-Christians) to know what the Bible teaches about ChristÕs second coming? If you want to know the answers to these and many other questions related to the Rapture of the Church--what is ÒimminenceÓ? would a good God really bring disaster on the earth?--then read this book. Nigro addresses the origins of todayÕs popular but inaccurate ÒpretribÓ teachings and demonstrates with helpful charts and detailed analysis what the Bible actually teaches. YouÕll find answers here for just about any question you might want to ask concerning what the Bible really says about the rapture. A straightforward, honest, detailed, well-documented, and extensively supported treatment of the topic. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious misuse of Scripture Review: Now in a new revised and expanded edition, Before God's Wrath: The Bible's Answer To The Timing Of The Rapture articulately presents author Heidi Nigro's unyielding belief that Jesus Christ will return to Earth is what is termed "The Rapture", reuniting the Christian Church after the coming of the Antichrist, and after the a worldwide "Tribulation", yet before the Wrath of God inundates the entire human race. In this powerful and well thought out theological essay, Nigro draws from scripture and is forthright in her theological presentation. Before God's Wrath is a most intriguing read and worthy of reading by students of the "End Times" literature.
Rating: Summary: Before God's Wrath is an excellent book! Review: There are a lot of books out there on studies of the end-times & many of them are full of contradictions with scriptures taken out of context to fit a popular fantasy of Jesus' second coming. H.L. Nigro's book however, is an excellent end-times book where scriptures are harmonized with many other scriptures to show a consistent pattern in God's prophetic Word. If you study your Bible & read "Before God's Wrath" with an open mind, this book will transform your beliefs in what scriptures are saying about Jesus'glorious second coming!
