Rating: Summary: A-to-Z Resource for Children's Ministry Volunteer Management Review: This deceptively small looking book (125 pages) captivated me for days. It covers the entire plan for volunteer management, with practical "how-to's", forms, applications, reporting, a training chart and job description. From the biblical philosophy to the biblical pattern, Christine Yount has provided an outstanding contribution for one of the greatest challenges facing children's ministry leaders. Her simple plan is to manage volunteers like Jesus did - through modeling and building webs of relationships. She draws on the experience and examples of many respected children's ministry leaders from across the nation (and Canada, too!), and provides a very readable "A to Z" resource, covering the philosophy for volunteer management, how to recruit successfully, forming a team, leadership structure, forming a vision statement, vision casting, encouragement, training, appreciation, and much more. It will make you think - and then rethink regarding your present way of doing things. While I don't always agree wholeheartedly with everything she says, I have not seen such a complete tool for the daily task of volunteer management in 22 years of children's ministry experience.
