Summary: Intro to Political Hermeneutics
Review: Today more than ever the Bible is being recognized as an inherently political book. Many Christians, recognizing the bankrupcy of the dualism that has pervaded much of Christian thought have begun to read the Bible afresh and discover the radical politics inherent in the Kingdom of God, the church and the biblical narrative as a whole.

In this helpful volume, Richard Bauckham essentially demonstrates how to begin learning to engage in political readings of the Bible through an examination of numerous different passages in different genre's throughout the Bible. Some of the most fruitful chapters are those on Revelation and the narratives of the Cross.

This book will be very helpful to those seeking to understand the politics of the Bible. It also serves as a good introductory book that can precede reading the likes of John Howard Yoder, N.T. Wright and Richard Horsely. Highly recommended.
