Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Addictive! Review: This is the very first book by Penelope J. Stokes I've ever read. I checked it out at the library because I was looking for something different than my usual. Honestly, I just walked up glanced through one row and the cover caught my eye. I read the back cover and the inside flaps and thought that sounds really good. I got home and started reading it and literally could not put it down. Everything in my life was basically put on hold because I was hooked. I read it in less than a day and immediately recommended it to my mother. All the other reviews have a little about the book so I'm not going to go into any detail about the story line, but I'll just say that I felt like I was in Little Am's shoes, listening and living a story that I was being told by Amethyst. It was a wonderful story with authentic historical points written beautifully. As soon as I finished telling my Mother all about the book, I got on Amazon to look for more books by Penelope J. Stokes.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Addictive! Review: Wow!! I just finished reading Amethyst Heart. I read it in one day, it was that good. Like the main character "Miss Amethyst" with her grandmother Pearl's journals, I could not get enough of the story of her family history. Ms. Stokes has done an outstanding job of relaying to the reader the events and the emotions involved in six generations of family. The mix of throwing in real life historical characters was an added greatness to the story. Bravo! I would highly recommend this book.
