Summary: Great book for family traditions during the Christmas season
Review: I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a new way of studying and enjoying the advent season. Whether you are looking for a different way of celebrating or something for bringing your family together, this well written, thoughtful book does both. My family did the daily readings together through the 4 weeks of advent and we bonded together each night and we learned more about the meaning of the season and also about one another.

Summary: Great book for the Advent Season
Review: Yup. . . this year. My two teenagers don't know it yet, but I am going to try something radically different this Christmas. I am so hopeful that this new approach will stick and become one of our family traditions. We are going to seek the reason for the season! We have tried this before. In our bookcase, we have about a half dozen books about the Advent season and the biblical Christmas story from when the kids were younger. But if I was going to be radically different about getting back-to-basics, I needed something new. So, based on my pastor's suggestion, I bought "Seeking the Christmas Lamb" by Tamara Buchan.

The book is a bible-referenced study guide into how Jesus Christ completes our relationship with God. Within the context of Advent, it contains 28 daily texts for the Advent part and 12 daily texts for the Epiphany part. For each day, there is a verse to look up, a discussion written by Tamara, a set of thought-enhancing questions titled "Reflect and Discuss" and another set of questions with suggestions for activities titled "For younger children". It is written very well and leads you throughout the bible.

I read the book cover to cover in one week as a dry run way before the advent season begins. I like the continuity of the discussion sections from day to day. In my humble Christian opinion, the book would also be a good study guide during the Lenten season because of the Sacrificial Lamb focus. What a blessing to find an advent handbook with a very strong focus on how Jesus completes our relationship with God.

Footnote: Although there is a short section for each day that suggests activities and questions for younger children, "Seeking the Christmas Lamb" is not a children's book about the biblical Christmas story. There are no pictures, no large text.
