Review: A great buy. There are Websites out there selling the same replica for a high amount of money. The print is wonderful. You have the English Bible for the English speaking people in its original form. The KJV a product of the reformation. Purified 7 times. Tyndale 1525, Coverdale 1535, Matthew 1537, Great 1539, Geneva 1560, Bishops 1568, and AV1611. Ps 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. I have a 1612 original in roman type and just having the 1611 with gothic type proves that the critics of the KJV do not know what there talking about. For you KJV fans, a must to purchase. It is fun to see the critics try to justify there comments when you hand them a 1611 to show you there accusation. Ec 8:4 Where the word of a king is, there is power:

Review: With digital publishing coming of age, reproductions of any text should be feasible and increasingly cheap. This "replica" reproduces not only the pages but the format of the original King James Bible and if you've never seen or held one you are in for a surprise. This is a mammoth, unwieldy, ugly black-bound book, weighing easily 20 lbs. It was clearly intended for a different use than most bibles today--this is not a volume to read privately in your bedroom, for instance. It is suited for reading at church, or with your family (placing the book on a table). The type is gothic and takes getting used to. If what you want is a usable yet original King James, there is a "1611 edition" reproducing this exact text (including mispellings, etc.) in modern typography, in a more "handy" format. My criticisn of this venture, however, is not that Greyden Press was too faithful to the original--again, just holding this book in your hand takes you back to a completely different world, where religion was a very public and communal way of life. My complaint is that they have added a "genealogy of the holy scriptures", a copyright page (this could be printed separately and inserted in the book as a removable notice), and, on the cover, "King James, 1611"--all of which detract from the authenticity of this "replica." A further complaint is that emails to the publisher's website have elicited no response. (One would want to know which copy of the KJV was replicated, whether the paper is acid-free, etc.) What one can say about this effort is: I know of no other commercially available bible that brings the experience of the original KJV closer.
