Summary: A plethora of study data, but beware of dragons
Review: "Comprehensive" is the first word that comes to mind while skimming the pages of this Bible -- some pages have more footnotes than Scripture. There was obviously a lot of time and thought put into this work. Where that time and thought leads, however, is something of a grey area.

I certainly will not stand here and deny the grievances that have already been aired in these reviews and elsewhere: Dake's commentaries are full of opinion, and his opinion is of course not God's. Among the truth there are a good number of questionable half-truths and outright wrong teachings -- a rather confusing dissertation on the Trinity that I can only discern as being a tritheistic view, tales of Pre-Adamic Earth and Re-Creation, and several other key issues. Some of these incorrect dissertations are recognizable as the foundation for modern TBN "Charismatic" wackoism (and the primary wackos do like to quote Dake in their preaching), although many of these modern doctrines have mutated into things even more bizarre than what Dake has written.

So you ask me, "Why four stars?" Simply put, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. The 500,000-plus footnotes and cross-references within this work are a fountain, and exploring them will certainly get you digging deeper into the Word of God to realize the Truth contained therein. I myself sift through about six different Bibles in my daily study; Dake merely serves as the diving board. Read one of Dake's notes, ask yourself "was he right or wrong", and then set out to answer that question in the light of Scripture.

Any study bible is filled with the opinions of men. I am suspicious of anyone using any one source exclusively. But that does not make Dake's text a bad place to begin mining for the Truth. As with any study of God's Word, be prayerful for the discernment that the Holy Spirit offers you, and you will not be led astray.

Review: ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL REFERENCE BIBLE !! IF YOU'RE NO LONGER SATISFIED WITH WATERED DOWN TEACHING, GRAB HOLD TO THIS BOOK AND EAT THE SOLID FOOD IT PROVIDES IN EVERY WORD.

Summary: Good stuff. Influential on modern Christian Musicians.
Review: Dake's teaching on the bible has had a large impact on the contemporary Christian music. His music has even influenced such "secular" artists Bono of the musical group U2. Many people have found parallel's between Bono's lyrics and Rev. Dake's teaching on the curse of Ham.

Review: i just purchased a dake bible the other day and havent really gotten into it, but i think its cool. i love reading and there is plenty to read here. i gave it four stars because i havent really gotten into it.

Review: I love Dakes Annotated Reference Bible, once you learn the basics on how to navigate through the scripture with Dakes notes, understanding and revelation explode of the pages. Questions I had were answered and explained. There is a complete set of notes after each book of the bible - the insight into the Word of God is amazing. I have read a lot of commentaries of the Bible and this one is the tops. I do not recommend this bible as a first bible for a new christian - the text is KJV - King James Version and may be hard to understand -(I suggest The Open Bible - New Living Traslation for a first bible) Anyway, as I always read reviews for products I want to buy when on Amazon - I thought I would leave one. Summary: read the fine print
Review: This Bible has an incredible amount of information in it and if you are serious about studying the Bible this is a must. That being said, you need to make sure you are well grounded in scripture because his views may be questionable at times. Furthermore, unless you have great eyesight, BUY THE LARGE PRINT EDITION. Even the large print is only 10 point, the regular print is very very small on the notes and at 40, my eyes couldn't read it without straining. If anyone from DAKE ever reads this, you need to print a tabbed version. Great Bible for the advanced student.

Summary: Abundance of notes. Beautifully presented. Highly usable.
Review: This is a terrific study Bible for believers with charismatic leanings. The general direction of the theology here is Dispensational. There are a ton of notes.

I have the large print, thumb-indexed edition. If you are seriously going to use this Bible and it's notes you almost must have the thumb-indexed version. The layout and font quality is good. I spend hours just going over the notes.

A word of caution. A goodly portion of the notes are intermingled with OPINION and conclusions based upon said opinion. Many of the conclusions are flat out wrong such as the one about the pre-Adamic earth. Many other conclusions are obtuse to say the least, such as the one about the Trinity. Therefore, take much of the notes as "commentary" and NOT as exposition of the Bible text per se. As with all commentaries, validate the author's exposition based upon YOUR study of God's Word and other commentaries.

A strong feature of this work are the numerous LISTS. Such as the Names Of God, Doctrines In John, etc. Another great feature is the question and answer sections on some books like Joshua. One can learn quite a bit from these sections.
If you are a believer who is charismatically bent this Bible is a treasure. If you, like myself, do not buy into charismatic theology, this work is a good study tool and very useful.
All in all I am very glad I have this Study Bible. A fine work.

Review: Well I don't know what to say about this novel. I don't know who this "King James" guy is but i think he's crazy. How else would you give yourself about 10 different names and right stories about God? Most of it just repeats itself and leads you in circles, and the plot is... well predictable. Avoid this book, go read One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish if your looking for a life changer!
