Summary: Evokes unpleasant images of Thomas Kinkade art
Review: I bought the book for our young children on the basis of other customer reviews. It is a great idea - one set of doors a day, opening to text from Scripture - but the art work is embarrassing, and reminded us of second-rate art, Kinkade style. With so much great art in the Western canon done around the Annunciation and the Christmas and post-Christmas stories, it is a shame that the producers of this book didn't use some of those settings as backdrops for the text. The Christian faith has inspired some of the very greatest art, music, and literature and I want my children to see that the Scriptures and the faith we are raising them in, is capable of those heights of greatness.

Review: I recently had an opportunity to preview The Advent Book. I am excited and eager to make it a part of my family's Christmas observance. The book is to be used in the manner of an Advent calendar with doors which open to reveal pictures and text telling the Christmas story. The illustrations are rich and beautiful and the text is written so that children can understand and learn the story as they repeat and add to it each day. Kids will love opening the large and unique doors. In the preface, the author also gives good ideas for additional Advent activities. This large book was elegantly produced with cloth binding, gold leaf, and ribbon ties. It will be our family's newest heirloom!

Summary: Perfect Advent Book for your family!!
Review: This book is AWESOME! We got it as a gift when my son was just one. Now he is four and have enjoyed it every year. It is a bit slow at the beginning because there is only a little bit of the story behind each beautiful door. So, on the first night you only read a sentence or two. But, we always repeat and start from door (day 1) and the kids really get the story that way. I highly recommend this book and am actually buying it for my brother and wife. This is a wonderful unique gift idea and perfect for any family advent tradition! Enjoy!!

Review: This book is wonderful. I could never imagine a book so beautiful. I have been using this book with my family and I really appreciate it. The book tells the story of the events leading up to Christs birth, his birth, and the events after his birth. I am really glad that the author decided to include the events after his birth because otherwise so many special events would have been left out. This is the perfect book for children everywhere to learn about Jesus' birth.

Summary: Wonderful Advent Book & Christmas Story
Review: This is an amazing beautiful book. Each page has a beautifully illustrated door which opens to a part of the Christmas Story. Throughout the 25 doors the well told story unfolds. Each door can be read before that day's door is opened. Simple and ageless. I made a cloth book cover for the book, both to protect the outer cover from the many children and adults who will read this and to enhance the beauty of this book.
