Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: I thought I'd just skim this book and maybe pick and choose some chapters that might benefit me - but I was hooked after the Introduction. Ellie's humor and honesty make her advice easy to swallow. I loved the money personalities - I think I'm a "Secure Samantha" but I'm already applying Ellie's simple-to- follow ideas to become a "Balanced Betty". Her use of real life anecdotes and catchy analogies, like the "Debt Diet" chapter help her concepts "stick to your ribs"!
Rating: Summary: This Book is Not Just For Women!!!! Review: I was given this book as a gift. After reading the title "A Woman's Guide to Family Finances" I figured my friend made a mistake and meant it for my wife. But as I browsed the pages I dicovered something I had never thought about before. I'M THE WOMAN OF THE HOUSE!!! I keep the budget, the checkbook. I pay the bills and do the shopping. I always have my eagle eye out for that amazing deal to swoop down and grab before it's gone. The financial advice here is sound, practical, and extremely useful. There is a spiritual component here too, but it is not so overwhelming as to deter someone not-so-inclined from pursuing and benefitting from Ms. Kaye's tips. Even though I got this one free, I expect to save 40 to 50 times the book's retail price this year alone by following the bread crumbed path of Ellie Kaye's frugal wisdom.

Rating: Summary: A Woman's Guide? Review: What's with the title? The book is more than a "Woman's Guide" because it offers very practical help for the entire family! I especially like "Pink Slip Blues" (chapter nine) and "The Six 'S' Words for Those 'Unencumbered by Employment'"! A great euphemism, but even greater counsel. I remember such days myself, and Ellie's counsel would have been very helpful. It's a funny but non-nonsense approach that will help anyone! I highly recommend it. There are hundreds (no exaggeration) of money-saving ideas here! Dr. Robert G. Smith Alamogordo, NM
