Rating: Summary: just what I needed Review: Get ready for a fun, witty, practical, hip, and helpful read! Yes, Durling's book presents a topic we'd sometimes rather ignore in way that entertains and engages the reader so you won't want to put down the book. In her light-hearted style, she eases you into analyzing your spending and saving habits, and gently digs underneath those patterns to help you discern the motives behind your money decisions. After each chapter, I was able to immediatley apply a new strategy. She offers not only helpful tips-- such as great cost-cutting ideas-- but the courage to help you take risks and make positive changes financially. She takes the fear out of 'getting involved in a relationship with your money.' Definitely 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: A Girl And Her Money Review: I have never read a book so smart, funny, warm, and encouraging and about money, no less! I found myself reading at 2 AM, because it was a page-turner. Rating: Summary: Right on the money Review: Sharon Durling gets to the heart of what it's like to be a woman with money troubles, and she gives solid, friendly advice about how to get back on the road to financial success. Durling's style is user-friendly, warm and inviting, and she takes you by the hand and leads you through her tips for getting your financial life back while sharing her own slip-ups along the way. A refreshing approach to women's financial issues wrapped in a fun, conversational style that makes you want to read every single word. I felt like I was getting financial advice from my best friend over pretty pink martinis. I highly recommend this book for anyone who's struggling financially and is ready to get some useful advice about how to make their money work for them.
Rating: Summary: Acheives its goals! Review: This book hits the mark as a fun, hip way for women to wade into the very deep waters of personal finance. In my own experience as a CPA and financial advisor, the topic of money management is quite frightening to many women, so Durling's fun and gentle book really helps women get rolling. Meant to be the beginning of a lifelong relationship with money (and the first of many books about money), it's not a comprehensive guide to personal finance (nor is it intended to be). It's a super-easy read that I'd recommend to any of my girlfriends who want to clean up their act with money, but are still overwhelmed with the many "nuts-and-bolts" books that are out there.
Rating: Summary: Great advice... A must read for all women who love to shop! Review: This book was very enjoyable to read, which is not usually true about most finance books! Throughout the book, I found myself taking notes and underlining suggestions as to how I could apply to my life. The author uses examples from her own life, which makes the reader feel like she is your friend sharing her own personal advice.
Rating: Summary: Well written with loads of common sense advice Review: This is a book that asks you to look into your spending habits and why you may be in the financial position that you are. The world is full of opportunity and choices. This is a well written, sensible, accessible and often times hilarious guide to financial well being. The questionnaires at the end of each section should cause the reader to sit back and think about his or her actions. The book contains loads of advice on how an individual can take charge of their financial situation.
