Rating: Summary: Did the Editor Really Read the Book???? Review: I read the Editorial review on Carolyn Manzis' wonderful book "Coloring Your Prayers" and will be eternally grateful it was before I read the Editorial Review. Did he (or she) truly read this book? if so, he (or she) just did not get it. Did he (or she) think the only exercise was to "color within the lines". Does this person know what "real spirituallity requires". The sad implication that Adults do not have dreams, visualize or pray and that the book was a "prop for people who've never grown up at all" is a sad insensitive commentary on life as I see it. I am 72, and continue to dream realizing spirituality is a journey that never ends. Thank you Carolyn Manzi for the aid of your wonderful, creative path for expanding our horizons.

Rating: Summary: I love this joyful, playful, delightful book! Review: I received Coloring Your Prayers as a gift from a friend this past summer. It is a joyful, playful, inspirational romp of empowerment and fun. I find it a unique contribution and magical exploration for our "colorful selves." I have bought a number of copies for friends and family. My grandchildren (ages 11 and 14) are equally enthusiastic about Carolyn's book and we have enjoyed many hours coloring together. It's great family fun in the car too. It's a keeper! Thank you, Carolyn!!
Rating: Summary: Art that celebrates God, yourself, and life... Review: I was lucky enough to attend Carolyn's book signing event at a local bookstore last night. She is as fun and as full of life as I remember her. And her book not only possesses this life and spirituality, it guides you in invigorating your own. The book's stated purpose is to create art that celebrates god and life. The book provides a framework, albeit a playful one, for prayer, introspection, and self-analysis. And through this process of imagining what can be, and remembering what's important, the book works it's therapuetic magic. The book's presentation is quite interesting -- it's a coloring book! While unique, I think the presentation serves a few useful purposes. One, it makes these ideas approachable to youngsters. And for grown-ups, it's a reminder that -- people, these ideas are not that complicated! I bought the book and read it with my daughter Elise the night after the book signing. Elise loved it, and I read her the pages and we colored together. One page had about a dozen sheep on it, and you're supposed to count your blessings and write a blessing in each sheep. When I explained this to Elise, she said her blessings were "Mommy and daddy, and all the little fish in the fish tank". Ohhh... Another page says "If it is that simple why don't we pray more often? Why do we sometimes feel like we don't ever know how? Why do we wish for someone to guide us?" Good question. To a degree, this book can serve as a guide and framework. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Coloring Your Prayers, An Inspirational Coloring Book Review: I went to a book signing that was held in Pacific Grove, CA. It was so much fun because we actually got to participate, not just sit and listen to someone try to sell their book. I went home feeling VERY inspired and have gone on to finish a project that I had set aside for a long time. It was a very unique and personally impowering experience for me. I left there knowing in my heart that I do have the power to make my dreams my reality!Carolyn Manzi's book stirs you to the core of your soul, and inspires you to boundless limits. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: unearth yourself! unearth your passions! Review: When I ordered Cal Manzi's Coloring Your Prayers for my suitemate at college, I couldn't wait to inspect this unusual volume. A self-help coloring book? Whoever heard? I took a chance, and I was enchanted with the results. As a literature major, I can certify that this is quite a work on many accounts. Carolyn addresses the reader directly in a casual style, making YOU the main character - and pointing out to each reader that, in their own lives, they ARE the main character!! This book is accessible to many kinds of readers, but I think it especially appropriate for people who need to rediscover how to respect and celebrate their individual selves. A great part of the text works on how to make your dreams come true...I bought myself a copy and read it whenever I need some cheerleading. It gives you the courage for anything, from a new haircut to applying to grad school. Why not aim for your dreams? You'll never know until you try. Coloring Your Prayers is a refreshing retake on the fusty self-help books of the nineties. I'd sound like I was off my rocker if I claimed that the book guarantees you a better life becasue it restores your faith in yourself. But instead, imagine the most magical and adventuresome person you know - the person whose love for life is simply intoxicating - you will become like them with Coloring Your Prayers. That, I do guarantee.
