Rating: Summary: The Best Gift Review: I am 19 years old and I read this book because of a trainer's suggestion, I bought it as a gift for my 11 years old sister. Being a licensed teacher myself, I believe it is the most wonderful way to teach children and adults how deal with problems in their every day life the way God wants them to and the way is most fullfilling. I could almost hear the voice of God wispering every story in my ear.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful teaching tool Review: I can remember going to church camp as a teenager and hearing the director read this book aloud to the campers. Still today, hearing her read about the Wemmicks and the Song of the King are among my favorite memories from camp. Now that I've returned to camp as a counselor, I'll be bringing this book along with me to read to the kids. The stories paint word pictures that come to life as they are read. (And if that isn't enough, the illustrations in the book are outstanding.) More than that, these stories are specifically intended to open up conversation about the subjects they deal with. The lessons taught through the stories are ones that will stick with the kids--and the adults too. I've already bought two copies of this book, one for myself and one for a friend teaching at a Christian elementary school. If you're looking to instill godly lessons into young children, I doubt if you'll find a more useful, excellent book.

Rating: Summary: A real jewel Review: I picked the book out of our church library because it looked beautiful and interesting to read. I was right! I spent the next week reading one chapter a night to my two children, ages 10 and 7. They couldn't wait to read on. I couldn't either! Each story was very good. We have talked about the Godly lessons we learned. The book really made an impact in our spriritual and daily lives. It's appropriate for all ages, not just children. I hope it touches you the way it touched us.
Rating: Summary: Read this to your children - more than once! Review: I read this book last night to see if it would be appropriate for my elementary aged son. I kept thinking as I was reading, "I wish I had been exposed to this book when I was in elementary school and junior high". The book dealt with many problems that most kids will face in their school years. (I know they brought back memories for me...) Issues such as teasing, speaking up for what you know is right, peer pressure, growth, dating and marriage, and death are all presented in a way kids can identify with. The "secrets" are God's answers to these problems we all will face as we journey on through this life. Get this book; read it aloud to your children and discuss it with them - often!!!! You will enjoy it as much as they do.
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL GIFT!!!! Review: Tell Me the Secrets is absolutely wonderful in that it pulls the reader in to these fascinating stories and gracefully and eloquently discusses God's guidance in each of our daily lives (through some somewhat difficult situations). Children, as well as adults, will visualize and stay captivated by these compelling stories (I read this book over several evenings to my eight year old and four year old and we all thoroughly enjoyed it). I also purchased additional copies and gave this book to my children's teachers as an end-of-year gift. I pray that God's hand remains on Mr. Lucado in his work. Thank you for your time.
Rating: Summary: Tweens Teaching Tool Review: This book is perfect for kids 9 - 13. It is arranged in chapter stories that each address a tween issue and then analyze the situation using Godly principles (the secrets). I cried at The Secret of Greatness story.....all about wooden people who put stars or dots on each other according to their beauty, charm, etc. The ending is so wonderful! Each story would make a perfect topic lesson for a Bible class with this age group. No one brings God's love to us in our own language like Max Lucado! And, the art is so cool. Each chapter has a provocative picture that starts you thinking about the story. The pictures are all dramatic and emotional! Buy this book!

Rating: Summary: The Secrets have been told... Review: Yet again, Lucado weaves a beautiful tale. Three children make friends with an elderly couple who have spent their lives devoted to doing God's work. The old man shares a book of secrets with them that he has collected during his life's work. Several times, the children come to the man with questions about life that need to be answered. The book of secrets has the answers to all of the questions. All the answers lead them to God. A truly inspiring and uplifting book, parents should follow the authors' instructions in the foreword. The chapters of this book are not meant to be read simply as bedtime stories. Rather, they should be conversation starters for parents to instruct their children on how to live - how God wants them to live, and how they can have a relationship with him. Highly recommended!
