Summary: a real hoot, peppered with some poignant moments
Review: Each page of this tiny book has a child's original handwriting (and sometimes their drawings) facing an illustration interpretation of their thoughts. One child asks, "Do you know about things before their [sic] invented?" The accompanying illustration (not by the child) shows clouds - one cloud has a TV in it, one has a radio.

Another child writes, "In school we learned that Thomas A. Edison invented light, but in Sunday School, they said you did. I bet he stoled [sic] your idea!"

Others are comical, but show the deep thoughts that are going on inbetween the ears of children, such as, "Instead of letting people die and then making new ones, why don't you just keep the ones you got?"

My less than perfect rating is for the lack of information on the demographics of where they got these letters. Were they all in the US? Were they from one church or one synagogue? How many were collected in all? Also, the book is so thin - to really be a book that is read over and over - they needed to include more letters from more kids.

Review: I found this book on accident and just had to get it. Each page brings a new smile at the innocence of young children and their ideals. A very good choice for any occasion as a gift or just to buy so when you are down to cheer you up.

Summary: Revealing...inspiring...comical
Review: In February 2003, Rabbi Moshe Weinberger of New York arrived in Denver to deliver a lecture entitled "Echoes of Prophecy: Finding Spirituality in Everyday Living." A great deal of the talk dealt with the innate lofty spiritual sensitivity and innocence found within children. This collection of children's letters to G-d validates much of what the rabbi discussed. "Dear G-d, I don't ever feel alone since I found out about you. -Nora." "Dear G-d, how come you did all those miracles in the old days and don't do any now? -Seymour." Some of the letters will make you laugh out loud. "Dear G-d, if you let the dinasor not exstinct we would not have a country. You did the right thing. -Jonathan." "Dear G-d, did you mean for the giraffe to look like that or was it an accident? -Norma". This book is a priceless treasure to be read again and again for its amusing comical relief as well as for its deeper underlying messages and spiritual reminders as inspired through children.

Summary: Children's innocence is the sweetest touch to life
Review: In the book, Childrens Letters to God, I found a new love of children. In this book, children under the age of ten share their innermost thoughts with God. The innocence of them all!! I was almost in tears at the thought that one day I was saying the same things. Even though the words are sparse, the meanings are deep.

Some people may not see the beauty in this book, but it is the sweetest thing I've ever read. Kids share their thoughts on how they think that God should have done things diferently, and how they want to know things like where babies come from and what they want done with their problems, and all sorts of things. I just fell in love with this book, and with the kids who wrote their very own, unique letters to God.

Review: The idea for the book has great potential--and some of the children's letters are very cute--but the book itself is simply too thin to merit the rave reviews that others have given it. I was disappointed that the book had so little material and it would be hard for me to recommend it at the published price.

Summary: Fervent wishes, confessions, confidences, praise, and thanks
Review: The mustered letters in this book are wonderful. In fact, they are a great delight. This is what we need to see in today's children. All of them touched my heart with laughter but not just that. The questions, innocence, and wiseness of the children (all under ten) are dominant. It shows for once that children may know better than their elders (sometimes). Particularly one letter stays in my mind:

Dear God,
I wish that there wasn't no such thing of sin. I wish that there was not no such thing of war.

If only it were that simple. It makes one wish to never grow up. "Children's Letters to God" is splendid and is an inspiring gift for anyone who has had the pleasure of being in the presence of a child's smile.

Summary: Laughter through honesty
Review: This book had me laughing out load on a bus to the point people must have thought I was crazy. The questions these children ask are truly the most cleaver and honest thoughts that seemingly only a child can think of! It will bring back your childhood and allow you to feel the pure wonder and discovery of your youth! A MUST READ...and a wonderful gift!

Review: This book is a refreshing reminder of the simplistic mind of achild, as we read how these little ones ponder who God really is andhow He works. The questions posed and statements made by these children are heartwarming and often comical! I laughed through the whole book! A must read for a parent or teacher of children.

I always include this book as part of a baby shower gift for someone who is having her first child to let her know about the priceless joy they are about to experience. I can't think of any other book that forecasts that joy so accurately.
